This convicted rapist told a judge "thank you sir, God bless" as he returned him to prison, which he prefers rather than living in the free world. Derby Crown Court heard how Mark Newbold deliberately breaches the terms of the sex offender register so he can keep being put back behind bars.

The 54-year-old was jailed for rape in 2006 and since then has continually been sent back inside when he is released. Defending himself, he even corrected the judge, telling him this was the 11th breach of his order.

Jailing the defendant for another 12 months, Recorder Jason Macadam said: "You are not represented today, Mr Newbold?"

He replied: "I don't need representation, sir, because I am guilty."

Recorder Macadam said: "Is it nine previous breaches?"

Newbold said: "It's 11, sir."

The judge said: "This is now your chance to ask for a reduction in your sentence but I don't think you want me to do that do you?"

The defendant replied: "No, thank you."

Recorder Macadam said: "Sadly your wife died in 2017 which I rather imagine is why you prefer to be in prison? Mr Newbold, I know you are deliberately breaching the notification requirements because you want to be kept in custody and you can carry on doing that.

"But it would be better for you to try and work out a plan of how you are going to live in the community. Give it a go, when you are released go to the nearest probation office and say 'please can you help me because I am struggling'."

Newbold replied: "Thank you very much, sir, God bless."

Caroline Bradley, prosecuting, said Newbold, of no fixed address, was jailed for five years for rape in 2006.

She said as part of the conviction he is a sex offender and as such is on the register. Miss Bradley said under its terms, when he is released, he must notify the police of where he is living within three days.

But he does not do that and there have been "a number of breaches" over the years.

The prosecutor said: "The situation seems to be, in this particular case, he was released on November 5 and did not register an address with the police. Therefore, he was arrested and he has been remanded into custody ever since.

"He states that he wants to go back to prison and therefore he is not minded to comply."

Newbold pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of the sex offender register. As well as the new jail term he was ordered to pay a 156 victim surcharge.

He had almost 3,000 vile images This Derby paedophile admitted to touching himself sexually while viewing sick images and films of babies and pre-pubescent children being abused. Derby Crown Court heard how 22-year-old Luke Ringer had been getting sexual satisfaction from the horrific movies and stills for more than seven years. When police raided his home during an early morning bust they seized his mobile phone and computer tower and found almost 3,000 vile examples of what he got pleasure from. Also discovered were images of adults engaged in sex with animals and web search terms he was looking for illegal pornography. Handing him an eight-month prison term, suspended for two years, Judge Martin Hurst said: "The children you look at on the internet are real children being raped in real time very often by their own parents. "And those are the images you uploaded for your own gratification. "I hope you understand that? "You say you don't have a sexual interest in children, but the rest of us find that completely impossible to understand." Stephen Kemp, prosecuting, said police received information an email address linked to Ringer was being used to download child abuse images. He said shortly before 7am on July 8, 2020, officers carried out a raid on the defendant's home and found him there. The prosecutor said a Samsung mobile phone and a computer tower were seized and examined. On them were a total of 329 still images and 19 movies of the most serious category A, which typically show very young children being raped by adults. Mr Kemp said there were 289 category B pictures and two films; 751 category C photographs; 1,700 prohibited (animated) images of children and 34 stills of people engaged in sexual activity with animals. He said: "There were also web searches which indicated he had been searching for indecent images of children, some of the images depicted babies and others of pre-pubescent children. "He admitted he used the images to (touch himself sexually to) and he said it was because it was a taboo subject. "He said he was not sexually attracted to children and had never abused a child." Ringer, of Kedleston Street and who was supported in court by an older man and woman, pleaded guilty to possession indecent images of children, extreme pornographic images and prohibited indecent images. He has no previous convictions of any kind. Once Judge Hurst said he was not sending his client immediately to prison, defence barrister Steffan Fox said he had nothing to add in mitigation. As well as the suspended sentence, Judge Hurst ordered Ringer to carry out 200 hours unpaid work, pay 300 costs, to attend a 43-day sex offender programme and to do 45 rehabilitation sessions. He also handed him a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and placed him on the sex offender register, also for 10 years.

A former teacher has been jailed for more than seven years after admitting to sexually abusing three underage girls in his care.

Simon Clague had previously pleaded guilty to a number of charges against three girls, all under 16 years old when they were groomed and sexually abused by the teacher at Repton School.

The victims of Simon Clague spoke of how they were manipulated by the former teacher and the irreversible damage they suffered at his hands.

Clague's barrister said his marriage broke down when his crimes became apparent and he is financially ruined.

The 55-year-old's offences took place at the 11,000-per-term establishment, where he taught maths and hockey, in the 1990s.

His victims have not been named due to the nature of the case, but one was just 13 years old when Clague started his abuse.

His second victim, who was manipulated into a sexual relationship, said via her victim impact statement that Repton School "knew (but) brushed it under the carpet".

His third victim said that she was used by Clague for "his own perverted reasons".

Judge Shaun Smith QC, who presided over the case at Derby Crown Court, has jailed Clague for seven years and 11 months, reports DerbyshireLive.

In passing sentence, Judge Smith QC said: "What you did for your own personal pleasure affected the emotional lives and well-being of the victims.

"You used and abused your position as a teacher for sexual gratification."

Mr Bide-Thomas prosecuting said that these offences all relate to sexual misconduct while Clague was a Master at Repton School and took place in the 1990s when he had sexual relations with three female pupils.

He said they were all under the age of 16 when these relationships began.

Mr Bide-Thomas said the first victim was aged 13 when she was first abused.

He said Clague "took advantage of her" befriending her and inviting the victim to his house.

He said: "Very quickly the defendant displayed a sexual interest in her. They went to his bedroom where they touched each other sexually.

"The defendant used grooming behaviour giving her gifts and writing her letters.

"He used any excuse to get her into his bedroom. On her 14th birthday he sent her a letter telling her how sexy she was."

Mr Bide-Thomas said when the first victim went on a hockey trip he sent her away with a tape and an item which had his aftershave on it.

He said when Clague was confronted about the letters he denied he had sent them, but handwriting experts linked him to them including his DNA on a stamp.

Mr Bide-Thomas read out a victim impact statement by the first victim.

In it she said: "This was innocence of my childhood he stole from me and it is important Mr Clague realises the effects can cause a lifetime.

"It was hard knowing there was a revolving door and it hurt to see him with the next young thing.

"This was no secret to anyone at the school who laughed at the absurdity it was happening."

"I feel sick to the core what happened to me. Mr Clague had the opportunity to change his plea three to four times and still pleaded not guilty.

"The damage he has done to me is irreversible and will last the rest of my life."

Mr Bide-Thomas said the second victim was 14 when she met Clague who began "flirtatious behaviour" with her before they began a sexual relationship together.

He said: "He asked her if she was a virgin."

In her victim impact statement the second victim said: "I started Repton School as a naive young girl, it was my dream to go to the same school as my childhood hero Roald Dahl.

"He used textbook grooming on me for two years.

"He encouraged me to miss a day off school and spend the day in bed with him. It was all brushed under the carpet by the school."

The victim said she went to the police four years ago and since then she has felt "isolated and unable to talk about it".

The second victim's statement continues: "I want him to know how sick to the stomach I feel when I look at my 15-year-old daughter knowing what he said to me at that age."

Mr Bide-Thomas said the third victim began a relationship with Clague in 1994 on a hockey tour abroad.

She said they started a relationship and she would go to his house.

In her victim impact statement, she said: "Instead of helping me with my studies you used me for your own perverted reasons.

"You were very calculated in your approaches and manipulated me. The shame lies with you."

Phil Gibbs, Clague's defence barrister, said his client has no previous convictions.

He said: "This behaviour was totally unacceptable, there are no excuses and I am not going to advance any.

"This man is going to prison, he accepts that and he deserves that.

"His marriage is lost, he's financially ruined, his reputation, whatever that was, is gone."

All three victims were in the public gallery.

Judge Smith said: "Can I address the victims first? The sentence I am going to pass can't give you your lives back, but I hope they bring some closure."

He will serve two-thirds of his sentence behind bars and then will be released on licence. He will be on the sex offender register for life.

He will also be barred from working with children.

A nappy-wearing predatory paedophile from Derbyshire has been jailed raping a young boy.

Derby Crown Court heard how Rikki Poyser sent an image of himself wearing nothing but an adult nappy and sucking a dummy to what he thought was an underage teen.

Under the pseudonym "Steve Turner," the vile 33-year-old shared images of young boys engaged in sex with adults with a like-minded predator who called himself "Daddy Boy".

And in one of them, which showed a toddler aged just two being raped, he typed the words "I wish".

Jailing the defendant for 17-and-a-half years, Recorder Jason Macadam said: "This an appalling case that there is no doubt.

"(The victim) was particularly vulnerable because of his extreme youth and background.

"You are demonstrably capable of manipulation and you pose a high risk to children.

"I do consider you pose a significant risk of harm to members of the public.

"You are a manipulative and predatory paedophile."

James Varley, prosecuting, said police discovered an internet address linked to the defendant had been sharing horrific child abuse images with "Daddy Boy" in October 2020.

He said Poyser was arrested, his devices were seized but he refused to give the pass codes to access his iPhone.

Mr Varley said the National Crime Agency arrested his like-minded pervert "Daddy Boy" and it was discovered the pair had shared images, movies and talked explicitly online about what they had either done or wanted to do to children sexually.

He said it was discovered the defendant had raped a young boy.

Mr Varley said: "This was not sudden, it was a planned assault.

"Having been arrested he answered 'no comment' to the questions he was asked.

"When it was discovered he was "Steve Turner" there was evidence that during his chats with Daddy Boy these two men talked about child abuse in pretty extreme terms.

"Aware the police were very keen to break into his phone he turned to the dating app Grindr and met a young boy aged 15.

"The age seemed to excite him but it was a police decoy.

"He told the decoy he was into what is termed 'adult baby diaper love' or ABDL and there were pictures of him wearing an adult nappy and sucking a dummy.

"Packs of nappies were (later) recovered from his car."

Poyser, of Glamorgan Way, Church Gresley, Swadlincote, pleaded guilty to a number of charges including rape of a child under the age of 13, distributing indecent images of children, making indecent images of a child and attempting to engage a child in sexual communication.

He has no previous convictions.

Nicola Hunter, his barrister, told the hearing that since being remanded into prison last summer, her client had been working on one-to-one sessions to address his behaviour.

She said: "He accepts he buried his head in the sand, he has done all sorts of soul searching and he recognises he has a long way to go.

"He's willing to engage and wants to be better equipped for when he's released from custody."

The 17-and-a-half-year sentence is made up of 13-and-a-half years custody with a four-year extension.

It means Poyser will not be eligible to apply for parole until two-thirds of the way through the 13-and-a-half years.

He will be on the sex offender register for life and was handed a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.

A man has been jailed for 38 years after he was found guilty of abusing two young girls. Jamie Dawson, 41, of Garden Crescent, South Normanton, Derbyshire was convicted of 13 counts of raping a girl under the age of 13. He was also found guilty of two counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching. The 41-year-old had denied the offences but was found guilty at a trial at Nottingham Crown Court. Derbyshire Police said the girls were abused in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The force said both victims had attempted to take their own lives as a result. Det Con Brett Turner praised the victims for their bravery. "Without their support and resilience Jamie Dawson would not have been brought to justice," he said. "His actions, and then continued denials, show him to be nothing short of evil. "The sentence imposed on him is one of the highest I have seen as an officer and is testament to the truly horrific crimes he committed. "While it goes no way to repairing the damage that he wrought on these two women - I hope that this is the beginning of a new, brighter, chapter for them both, free of Dawson's shadow."

A Halloween-loving pervert who enjoyed cosplay dressing up has been jailed for having sexually abused multiple underage girls over a number of years.

Billy Bradshaw, who dressed as a vampire for his own wedding, devastated the lives of his five victims by assaulting them in a string of revolting attacks that spanned a decade.

The 31-year-old's offending, which began when he was a teenager, was exposed when two girls told the police he had assaulted them in 2019.

Subsequently, three more victims bravely came forward alleging he had also abused them when they were children.

Bradshaw, of no fixed abode, and a father of four, had denied the offences and took the matter to trial, cruelly forcing his victims to relive their experiences in the courtroom.

Despite his denials, a jury at Derby Crown Court took just 90 minutes to find him guilty of all offences of which he was accused.

A number of his victims were in court to bravely face their attacker as he was imprisoned for more than a decade for his vile crimes on Friday, January 7.

Barnaby Shaw, prosecuting, described the devastating toll on Bradshaw's victims through their impact statements in court.

One said how she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and suffered from anxiety and depression as a result.

"I just wanted him to tell the truth about what happened," she said.

"[When I found he pleaded not guilty] it broke me. I wanted him to tell the truth.

"I want a normal life, I feel this is unlikely to happen because of what he did to me."

Another victim said how she hated things that reminded her of him including alcohol, menthol and Halloween - a seasonal event he liked so much he had a Halloween-themed wedding.

She said: "I became depressed and would feel unworthy. It has had a devastating effect on my family.

"I see the pain in my mum's eyes feeling she didn't protect me enough and the anger in my father's."

Another of his victims said she missed the person she used to be before the incident.

"After what happened to me I couldn't bear living in my own skin. I tried to take my own life because of what happened.

"I try to cut the pain physically from my skin. I don't like the way my body feels.

"I have outbursts of rage which I cannot control.

"I hope one day I may be able to live some kind of normal life. I want to be the person I was before all this happened and not as I am now."

All victims said they no longer trusted men and could not stand physical contact such as hugging or people touching them.

He was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault of a girl under 16, three counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of causing/inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Ian Way, defence counsel for Bradshaw, said he could offer "no real mitigation" for the offending, but added his client had health problems including depression, anxiety and gout.

"He will know that by having a trial he is deprived of any discount or credit," he said.

"What perhaps is the most significant factor for him - he is the father of four young boys, he won't be seeing them or having contact with them for a considerable time.

"The sentence is inevitably one of custody measured in years, not months.

"There's precious little else I can say."

Recorder Adrian Reynolds said Bradshaw's offending was "despicable".

"You had the chance to think of your wife and children when you decided whether you were going to admit what you had done," he said.

"You showed no compassion for them [his victims], I will give none to you because you don't deserve it.

"If I passed the sentences that your individual offending merited and made them consecutive, tempting as that might be, the overall sentence would be disproportionate. That may be difficult for your victims to understand."

Describing his actions as "appalling", Recorder Reynolds said he had torn apart the lives of his victims.

He added that one the victims movingly said how "her dignity and soul were robbed by what you did" and that another had tried to take her own life.

He jailed Bradshaw for a total of 12 years, with an extended licence period of an additional year.

He also ordered that he sign the sex offender's register for life and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further order.

Derby Crown Court heard how Wayne Russell was himself only a teenager when he carried out both sets of illegal offences.

He placed his hand down the first victim's pyjamas and pants but she did not come forward and disclose this for a number of years.

In the meantime, the now 22-year-old, of Alvaston, had consensual sex at least twice with the second girl, once in a field.

Handing him a 27-month prison sentence, Judge Nirmal Shant QC said: "On four occasions you put your hands in her (the younger victim's) pants and 'tickled her privates' as she said and demonstrated during the trial.

"In relation to (the second victim) it is accepted this was consensual but I make it plain the law is there to protect young girls."

Stuart Lody, prosecuting, said the first victim was touched sexually when she was under the age of 13 by Russell.

He said it happened on "four or five occasions" but after she found the bravery to make a complaint to the police the defendant denied it.

This meant she had to relive her ordeal giving evidence about what happened to her at a trial.

On that occasion a jury found him guilty of sexual assault of a child aged under 13.

Mr Lody said Russell pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child in relation to the second complainant - who at the time of the offences was much closer to his age than the first victim.

Steven Taylor, defending, said his client attempted suicide when the allegations arose in 2019.

"He has no qualifications and therefore the work he does do is manual.

"He is someone who would benefit from intervention and I don't suggest he is suicidal now.

"He is in a much more stable position now."

As well as the jail term, Judge Shant handed Russell, of Wensleydale Road, a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

He will be on the sex offender register for the same period of time.

A judge has jailed a "manipulative" Derbyshire sex offender for 24 years after he was found guilty of abusing girls.

Cruel Mark Reap bought gifts to try to persuade his victims to keep quiet but his offences came to light when one told her teacher.

Reap, 45, targeted his victims on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2018.

Reap, formerly of Bath Street, Ilkeston, was arrested in January 2019, but he continued to deny the offences, saying that both girls had made up stories.

Reap eventually pleaded guilty to seven separate offences at the start of his trial at Nottingham Crown Court on August 2.

The offences included five counts of rape and two of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

He appeared again at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, October 8, and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Reap was added to the Sex Offender Register for life and has been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order that will tightly control his behaviour when he is released.

Detective Inspector Craig Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Reap is a manipulative sex offender who repeatedly raped and sexually abused two young girls – causing them considerable physical and emotional pain.

"By failing to take responsibility for his actions and accusing his victims of lying he caused needless additional distress and has rightly been handed a very lengthy custodial sentence.

"Detectives in Nottinghamshire Police's public protection teams work every day to investigate cases of rape and sexual abuse and it is thanks to their hard work and tenacity that people like Reap are held to account and their victims are offered the support they need.

"Had it not been for their very thorough investigation and attention to detail Reap may very well have evaded justice

"So if you have been the victim of sexual assault we want to hear from you. It doesn't matter that an offence happened many years ago; what matters is that it happened at all.

"If you make an allegation we will listen carefully to you, we will investigate and we do everything we can to get justice for you."

A paedophile bragged to friends about targeting vulnerable underage girls despite being on bail for previous offences.

Ben Dawson spoke to three girls over two years, but two were decoy profiles operated by paedophile hunters who later confronted him.

The 34-year-old repeatedly asked the girls for nude images and videos while also sending them explicit pictures and encouraging them to watch pornography.

But despite being on bail for his earlier offending and being warned by a friend about his actions, Dawson, of West End, Alfreton, continued to prey on young girls and tried to meet them, telling them that he could not have sex with them until they were 18.

Sentencing Dawson to five years in prison at Derby Crown Court, sitting at the Mercure Hotel in Nottingham, on Friday, October 29, Recorder Adrian Reynolds said: "What makes this case particularly serious is, in a nutshell, the determination with which you have continued to offend.

"You had already ignored a specific warning that [one of the girls] was vulnerable and should be left alone. That made no impact..

"Even when you were arrested a second time you continued to offend again. It is of considerable concern to me that you appear to be completely in denial about your sexual attraction to underage girls and you rather see yourself as the victim of all this.

"I don't agree with the defence's submission about that you were insisting that you would not have had sexual intercourse with any of these girls until they are 18. I can't for the life of me think of what other reason you had to meet them other than to engage in sexual intercourse.

"I'm going to pass a fairly substantial prison sentence upon you."

David Outerside, prosecuting, told the court that Dawson's offending began when he started messaging a 15-year-old girl in January 2019, despite being told by a social worker that the girl was vulnerable and at risk of exploitation.

He asked for sexually explicit videos of her and even got his nephew to convince the girl to unblock him on social media when she tried to stop speaking to him.

Dawson, who has a previous conviction for indecent assault, also repeatedly invited her to his house, but she never accepted, before he was arrested in August 2019.

But while this was being investigated, he made contact with a fake profile named Ellie Stevens in February 2020, who was actually a self-styled paedophile hunter posing as a 13-year-old girl.

He messaged the decoy saying "I'm 32 and have my own place" and offered to buy her gaming credits, before starting to talk about sex and having a relationship with her.

He later called her while touching himself and said that she should too, saying that he hoped "you get horny".

The group then contacted police and he was arrested again in April 2020, before being bailed, only for Dawson to then contact a second decoy, posing as a 14-year-old girl called Danni, on March 17 2021..

Despite the fake profile again making her age clear from the start, Dawson bragged about being arrested and said that the investigation was based on fake evidence as his account was hacked.

He admitted that he could "get done" for meeting a girl under the age of 16, and at this point was warned by his friend about his behaviour, but neither stopped him from telling the fake profile that she was "stunning" and that he would have asked her on a date if she was 18.

He repeated his earlier behaviour by sending explicit photos and arranged to meet the girl at Alfreton bus station, sending her links to pornographic websites so that she could "get ideas" in the meantime.

When he went to meet who he thought was Danni, he was confronted by the group and arrested again.

Andrew Fitch-Holland, defending, admitted that the case was "difficult" to defend but said that he did not pose a serious risk.

He said: "It is clear that this defendant is at pains to point out that he has no intention of forcing himself upon anybody and the need of any sexual activity to be postponed until the victim is 18.

"The reality is that Mr Dawson himself is a man with a high degree of vulnerability. He has learning difficulties, he is dyslexic.

"He [Dawson] has a extreme degree of naivety. He seems prepared to disclose the nature of his offending to others in custody.

"The reality is this is a very immature man. His desire to stay at home, locked away playing video games, means he has not been able to engage properly with his offending behaviour."

Alongside his prison sentence, Recorder Reynolds also placed Dawson on the sex offender register for life and gave him an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child, attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 years, attempting to cause or incite a girl 13-15 to engage in sexual activity, attempting to cause or incite a girl aged 13-15 to watch or look at pornographic images, attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child and attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 years following grooming.

He must also pay a victim surcharge.

A sex offender who preyed on young women walking alone has been jailed after DNA evidence linked him to the crimes. Reyno Du Toit, from Derby, targeted five women in Nottingham's Park estate in October 2020. He exposed himself to three of them and grabbed two others. The 41-year-old was jailed for two years at Nottingham Crown Court after admitting two counts of sexual assault and three counts of exposure. Nottinghamshire Police said Du Toit, of Goodsmoor Road, Derby exposed himself to three women on the afternoon of 24 October in Rolleston Drive, Harlaxton Drive and Allington Road. Two days later he grabbed two women walking in Lenton Road and Rolleston Drive.

'Despicable offender'

Police said Du Toit was arrested in December after his car was linked to the scene of each offence. He was then confronted with "damning DNA evidence" from the clothes of one victim. "Unbeknown to Du Toit, he had left behind trace DNA evidence on his final victim when he groped her over her clothes," the force said. "The tiny-but-damning sample was retrieved from her jeans." Det Con Fiona McVey called Du Toit a "despicable offender who deliberately targeted lone young women as they walked near their homes". "His offending was clearly escalating in its seriousness and we worked exhaustively to track him down as soon as possible," she said. "Thanks to the work of a highly-motivated team of detectives, the evidence we were later able to confront him with was so detailed and so damning that he really had no choice but to admit to what to had done."

A Derby doctor has been jailed for his attempts to have sex with underage teen girls.

Branded "arrogant" and "hypocritical" by a judge, Dr Jamil Rehman lied repeatedly about a four-hour journey he took with the intention of meeting an underage girl for sex.

The married father-of-two will be in prison for the birth of his third child and is likely to be deported to Pakistan on his release.

The trainee GP was found guilty in August of two counts of attempted sexual grooming of underage girls after travelling from Derby to west Wales to meet a 15-year-old girl called Kayla in 2019.

When he arrived he was met by self-styled paedophile hunters, with red roses and pills designed to delay orgasm found in the boot of his car.

Police also found further messages between the 35-year-old and a 13-year-old girl named Sienna, who was also a decoy.

Rehman, of Gilling Close, Littleover, Derby, claimed that he had no desire to engage in sexual activity and wanted "Kayla" to be his tour guide on his first visit to Wales.

But his defence was labelled as "frankly laughable" and "ludicrous" by Judge Paul Thomas QC at Swansea Crown Court, after Rehman tried to tell the jury that he had mistaken the words "hotel" and "restaurant", despite booking a room with a double bed.

The judge said: "You came to west Wales from the Derby area where you were practicing as a doctor.

"You came down here which, on my calculation, is a four-hour journey for one purpose and that purpose was to have full sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl.

"Your intentions were to have sexual intercourse with her.

"You claimed in the course of the trial to be concerned for the welfare of vulnerable girls. You did believe them to be vulnerable, which is why you targeted and attempted to groom them.

"As a man who was training to be a general practitioner, you would have known full well the potential impact of what you attempted to do.

"You were a married man, you simply wanted to use these underage girls for sexual purposes. You did lie about your age online and you did so deliberately."

Rehman was sentenced to 20 months in prison and placed on the Sex Offender's Register for 10 years, with the details of a sexual harm prevention order to be set.

He met who he thought were the underage girls in a chatroom called Meet4U, before having private conversations on WhatsApp.

He then travelled from Derby to Carmarthen, a journey of around 220 miles.

Eugene Egan, defending, told the court that Rehman, who is expecting a third child in December, was in the UK on a work visa and thus will likely have to return to his native Pakistan upon his release.

However he acknowledged that his client had fabricated much of his defence in his trial.

He said: "What he told the jury was concocted and a pack of lies.

"Perhaps for the first time now, on the day of sentencing, there is a genuine acknowledgement of what he has done.

"He has thrown away his career. The consequences for him will be harsh and substantial. He has thrown all that away through gross stupidity on his behalf."

Tracy Harrison, chief executive of Safe and Sound, a Derbyshire charity which supports young people who are victims of child exploitation including online grooming as well as their families, had previously voiced concern over the case.

She said: "This is a deeply disturbing case and highlights the increased dangers facing young people of online grooming.

"This particular case thankfully did not put a young person in danger but, for every instance that a perpetrator is trapped in a sting operation, there are countless others who fall victim to online predators.

A paedophile who groomed and sent explicit images and texts to someone posing as an underage girl has been sentenced.

Mohammed Younis, from Derby, began messaging who he thought was a 14-year-old girl in March, but he was actually contacting a self-styled paedophile hunter who modified their own profile picture to appear much younger.

Younis was arrested by police after being reported by the social media vigilante, and police proved his identity after comparing his Facebook cover photo - a picture of his HMP Nottingham ID card - with his records.

His barrister said that he clearly needed help.

37-year-old Younis offered to “teach” and “train” the pretend teenager how to become “good at sex” while saying that “it would be OK if nobody knows” and encouraging her not to tell her mother, according to prosecutors.

He also groomed the young girl by offering to buy her jewellery and chocolates.

Mark Achurch, prosecuting, told Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, August 11, how Younis said to the ‘girl’ that he wanted to marry her, have a baby with her and create a pornographic film with her.

The court also heard how the defendant committed the offences while on licence after being released from prison following a previous conviction for unrelated offences.

He is also awaiting trial for exposing himself to a prison officer while in custody in Nottingham.

He was sentenced to four years in prison after earlier pleading guilty to three counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of attempting to cause a child to look at an image of sexual activity.

Recorder Balraj Bhattia said: “You genuinely believed that you were liaising with a girl that you knew was 14 years of age.

“The nature of the conversations that you had with her were explicit and I have no doubt that you believed or intended to carry out these assertions made by you.

“You encouraged her, or incited her, to perform oral sex on you, to have sexual intercourse with you, telling her that although it may be painful to start off with she would get used to it.

“I take the view that this is a serious example of that type of offending.”

Steven Gosnell, defending Younis, admitted that “there is clearly grooming here” and that the defendant “says this part of his life was chaotic to say the least”.

“He does not excuse what he did in any way,” Mr Gosnell said.

“He is clearly someone that wants help, he is clearly someone who needs help.”

This is the face of a Derbyshire rapist who took advantage of a young woman - paralytic on drink and drugs - to sexually attack her.

A judge told Simon Sowden what he did to the brave victim was "a horrific incident" for her.

In her own victim impact statement she told how she did not even want to look at herself in the mirror because of what the 32-year-old did to her.

She and her family showed huge courage to come to Derby Crown Court earlier this week to see Sowden jailed for 10 years and nine months.

But her attacker could not even begin to muster the same courage, choosing instead to turn away from the public gallery and shield his face from her during the hearing.

Now, after consulting with the victim, Derbyshire police has released a custody photograph of Sowden.

Sarah Phelan, prosecuting, said the sex attack happened in the early hours of the morning one day in April 2019.

She said Sowden met the victim in a pub in Chesterfield and the two of them drank heavily and took cocaine.

Miss Phelan said: "He took advantage of her when she was heavily intoxicated, took her back to his flat under the guise of protecting her when she was paralytic through drink and drugs and was not capable of consenting.

"Two taxis refused to take them and it was only a third taxi, driven by a female, who was prepared to take them.

"They arrived at his flat and she recalls taking her false eyelashes off.

"She said she then recalls feeling she was being (touched sexually) and then felt him inside her and could hear him moaning and breathing.

"She got to the bathroom, grabbed her things and left.

"There is CCTV of her trying to flag down an ambulance."

Miss Phelan said the victim rushed home and told her mother she had been raped and the police were called.

She said the defendant was arrested at around 9.45am in a van in Chesterfield and answered "no comment" to questions he was asked in two police interviews.

Sowden, of Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, pleaded guilty to rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault but only on the day his trial was due to begin.

A warped University of Derby lecturer manipulated and fantasised over pictures of students and staff he had downloaded from their social media accounts.

Pervert Thomas Dodsley superimposed images of genitalia over their photos and created text boxes accompanied with captions featuring obscene messages.

One of the lewd images included wording that read: "look into my eyes, Mr Dodsley".

Over a six-year period, the married 34-year-old also downloaded just short of 3,000 sick child abuse images, including infants being raped.

And police found vile footage on his laptops, including humans engaged in sexual acts with animals.

Jailing him for a year at Derby Crown Court, Judge Shaun Smith QC said: "At the time you were caught you were a lecturer in criminology at the University of Derby.

"You had been there for three years and previously to that you were involved in youth work.

"You have, it is true, some significant personal mitigation in what you have done since you were caught.

"But I emphasise 'since you were caught' as the author of your (pre-sentence) report is of the opinion you would have carried on if you had not been caught."

Eunice Opare-Addo, prosecuting, said police executed a warrant at Dodsley's address in Grosvenor Avenue, Breaston, at 6.50am on September 1 last year.

She said his wife answered the door and the defendant appeared a short while later.

Miss Opare-Addo said laptops and other electronic devices were seized and analysed.

She said on them were 62 category A movies or images which is the most serious category, 70 category B, 2,842 category C, five prohibited images and 16 extreme pornographic images.

Miss Opare-Addo said: "On a USB stick were photos of past and present Derby University students and staff which appeared to have been obtained from social media.

"Some of them had genitalia and text superimposed over them with one saying 'look into my eyes, Mr Dodsley'."

The defendant pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of prohibited images and possession of extreme pornography between March 24, 2014 and September 1, 2020.

His barrister, also called Sean Smith, said: "He has already been addressing his offending by completing an accredited programme which included behavioural therapy."

In a statement, a spokesperson for the University of Derby said: The University was unaware of any allegations or concerns in relation to this individual until he appeared in court to enter his plea.

"He is no longer employed by us, having left his role in March this year.

As well as the jail sentence, Judge Smith made Dodsley sign on the sex offender register for 10 years and handed him a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

He also banned him from working with children for the same amount of time.

Jamie Woodland had horrific images on his mobile.

A Derbyshire man was caught with horrific images of young children being abused on his mobile phone.

Dozens of indecent images were found on the device by police in March this year after they took possession of a phone belonging to Jamie Woodland.

These included some of the very worst type of child abuse images, including ones showing children thought to be between the ages of three and five being raped.

Derby Crown Court was told on Thursday, May 20, that by possessing the mobile phone and by deleting images on a device, the 29-year-old was in breach of an existing Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

That order was given to him at Sheffield Crown Court in 2018, when he was jailed after spending months of sending sexualised messages to an undercover police officer who he thought was a teenager.

Sarah Allen, prosecuting, told the court, that the father-of-two had not told police he had bought a new phone in December last year.

"That was handed to the police by his girlfriend after his arrest," she said.

She said police had found 70 Category A images on the device - the worst type of abuse images.

These included images of girls aged between three and five years old being raped and abused.

The phone also had 17 Category B images showing children between the ages of six and 12, and 83 Category C images.

"He denied he had seen any of the images on the mobile phone, he said he had purchased it and forgotten he had had it," Ms Allen said.

"In August 2018 he was sentenced for two counts of attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity. He was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

"The police report confirms that he had deleted images from one of the mobile phones on March 10."

Woodland, of Shuttlewood Road, Bolsover, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child, and two breaches of a SHPO.

Katrina Wilson, mitigating, said her client has two children with his ex-girlfriend, with another on the way, and he is keen to maintain contact.

"This is a situation where denials were made at interview - the [guilty] plea was entered at the first chance before your honour," she said.

 "He is still a relatively young man. He has committed these offences, he accepts he has a sentence to serve as a result of that.

"His father is currently in hospital having been put in a coma and being in critical care. Mr Woodland has only just come into that information.

"Prior to his remand he had been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The best that can be said for is that he is trying to make the best of his time in custody."

Judge Shaun Smith said while Woodland had shown remorse, the images found on the phone had been "particularly disgusting" with some involving very young children.

Jailing Woodland for 13 months, he said: "You know there are very real victims in relation to these images. It's a deliberate breach by you."
