A twisted and perverted elderly man with a string of sex offences groomed and abused two young girls, leaving one victim suffering from nightmares and insomnia.

Raymond Paterson, 77, who had history for grooming young girls took advantage of his three victims and manipulated them after he had failed to change his ways following a mercifully low six-year prison sentence for raping another girl.

Creepy Paterson exploited the mother of two of his victims after the woman took pity on him after he told her that he had battled cancer, which she tried to help him with.

Paterson, from Hull, admitted two offences of sexual assault between March and November last year and four offences of breaching a sexual harm prevention order, between July and November.

Louise Reevell, prosecuting, said that Paterson twice tapped the younger of the two girls on her bottom and told her to be a good girl, making her feel uncomfortable and causing her to run away from where he was.

On earlier occasions, he kissed his fingers and touched her face every day for more than a month. The incidents had left the girl suffering nightmares and finding it difficult to sleep, according to Hull Live.

In separate incidents, Paterson sexually assaulted another girl after befriending her mother, who felt sorry for him and tried to help him after he told her that he had suffered cancer.

He grabbed and rubbed his hand on the girls chest area on three or four occasions and made sexualised remarks.

He also grabbed her face, rubbed her hand against his cheek and stroked her hair. She had been left suffering from anxiety.

Paterson allowed girls into his home in breach of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order made in July 2011 when he was jailed for six years for raping a girl under 13 and causing a girl to engage in sexual activity. He had convictions for 15 previous offences, nine of which were sexual offences.

David Godfrey, mitigating, said that a pre-sentence report on Paterson was grim reading and it seemed, from it, that he was in denial but he had made admissions. He is someone who accepts his offending, said Mr Godfrey.

Paterson had, apart from these offences, led a decent existence but his 2011 conviction was worrying. He hoped to move into sheltered accommodation when he was released from prison.

He is somebody who has distorted views, that is clear, said Mr Godfrey. He wanted to say sorry. He feels bad about what he has done and he regrets what he has done.

Judge John Thackray QC told Paterson: In 2011, you received a mercifully low sentence of six years imprisonment for very serious offences, including the rape of a child under 13.

Despite receiving that mercifully low sentence, you have gone on to commit further offences against children.

I have no doubt, and the probation service have no doubt, that you represent a very high risk of causing sexual harm to children. During an eight-month period of 2021, you set about targeting young children.

You set about befriending a woman who you knew had children. You were manipulative and dishonest in doing so.

Paterson was jailed for three years after being branded a dangerous offender. He will be on extended licence of five years after his release from prison.

A man has been jailed after kissing a teenage girl who suddenly turned up at his home in the "middle of the night".

Aurimas Turcinavicius took advantage of the 14-year-old girl and started "messing around" with her after she went to his home for shelter after a "blazing row" at her home. He ignored a police warning to stay away from her and pictures of the two of them, including one where they were in bed together, were later found on her phone, Hull Crown Court heard.

Turcinavicius, 36, of Milldane, Orchard Park estate, Hull, admitted two offences of sexual activity with a child between August 17 and 27 and between October 26 and 29. The case was originally listed for trial but he changed his pleas two weeks before it was due to start.

David Godfrey, prosecuting, said that Turcinavicius groomed the teenage girl by buying her things and, on two occasions, kissed her in a sexual way. He was interviewed by Humberside Police in August because of concerns about their relationship and was warned about his behaviour, but he went on to commit the second offence.

It happened when she turned up at his home. The girl took pictures of them that seemed to be sexualised and showed them kissing in different locations. "There is one of them in bed together," said Mr Godfrey.

The girl's sister had made a statement saying that the girl had become a lot more introverted since the incidents. The girl herself had not assisted the police and did not want to do so.

Nick Worsley, mitigating, said that Turcinavicius, who is Latvian, claimed that the most that ever happened was that he and the girl kissed a couple of times and that there was no sexual touching. "I kissed her once on her birthday," he claimed. He realised that he should not have done so and he bitterly regretted his behaviour.

Turcinavicius had split up from his long-term girlfriend, with whom he had a four-year-old daughter. He was on good terms with them and had not been able to see them because he had been remanded in custody since the end of October.

"He understands that it has come about through his own actions," said Mr Worsley. "This was some ill-advised kissing on a couple of occasions. It went no further than that."

The reason that the police became involved was because the girl left her home after a "blazing row" and went round to see Turcinavicius in the "middle of the night" for shelter.

The police came knocking there because the girl had gone missing. She had become "not obsessed with him", but was pursuing him.

"It was not deliberate and persistent flouting of a shot across his bows," said Mr Worsley. "This is the girl coming to him when there had been troubles at home."

The girl took photographs of them together. "She jumped on to the bed and took a selfie with him," said Mr Worsley. "It's not him that has taken the photograph. This is not contact that was taken further. It's messing around."

Turcinavicius was hard-working and had always worked, apart from a couple of weeks, and was a "model prisoner" in custody. He had a conviction for criminal damage.

Judge John Thackray QC said that Turcinavicius kissed the girl in a sexual way, using their tongues, in what "used to be called French kissing".

He told Turcinavicius: "You became very close to your 14-year-old victim and you kissed her in a sexual way on two occasions. There was a very significant disparity in age of over 20 years. You continued to have contact with your victim despite a previous warning.

"Only appropriate punishment can be achieved by way of an immediate custodial sentence. It must be an immediate custodial sentence. A clear message must go out in cases like this."

Turcinavicius was jailed for 16 months. He was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for 10 years.

A seedy sex offender started searching for sickening images of child pornography just a month after being spared prison for having "very lewd" sexualised online chats with a decoy 12-year-old girl. Devious and sneaky Anthony Press tried desperately to cover up what he was doing by deleting his internet search history but he was caught out when police made checks on his activities and discovered what he was secretly doing.

It was a "deliberate" breach of the "golden opportunity" that he had been given to turn over a new leaf and change his ways, Hull Crown Court heard. Press, 40, of Wentworth Way, Hull, admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to register his details as a sex offender.

Stephen Welch, prosecuting, said that in March 2019, Press was given an 18-month suspended prison sentence at Hull Crown Court for attempting to communicate sexually with a child. He repeatedly contacted a fake 12-year-old girl, who told him her supposed age, and he used "very lewd language" to her in their messages.

Within a month of being given the suspended sentence, Press was searching on the internet for indecent images of children. A detective asked to look at his phone as part of monitoring on April 2, 2019 but there was no search history on it and Press claimed that he had to reset it and lost the internet history.

This was in breach of a court order which banned him from deleting his internet history. He had searched for "teen brunette f****d" in the early hours of that morning but claimed that it was "just out of boredom".

On January 31, 2020, the detective went to the home of Press, who was very nervous throughout the visit. There were no indecent images of children on his computer equipment but search records suggested that he had been seeking such images. Settings put in place erased data after the internet was exited.

"This was a very serious breach," said Mr Welch. "The defendant accepts that it was done deliberately to avoid detection on downloading indecent images of children. All of that which he was seeking for was going to be illegal."

Press should have gone to the police to update and confirm his details on September 13, 2020 but he did not do so until September 23 - 10 days late. Hannah Turner, mitigating, said that, apart from these incidents, Press had fully complied with the terms of the suspended sentence and had increased insight into his behaviour and the impact that it had on others.

"It's obviously a deliberate breach," said Miss Turner. "We don't know what actual material was accessed. We have just the search terms.

"There is no hiding from the fact that this offence occurred within a month of that suspended sentence being imposed. He feels embarrassed and ashamed in respect of what he has done."

Press had medical difficulties and walked with the assistance of a walking stick. Judge John Thackray QC told Press: "The court gave you a golden opportunity to rehabilitate yourself. Within a month of receiving that golden opportunity, you were committing these serious offences.

"You were doing your best to find indecent images of children and to hide the fact that you were looking for indecent images of children. Indecent images of children and those who attempt to obtain them fuel child sexual abuse and untold suffering and harm to the children who are abused, photographed and videoed, at or from a young age, often with adverse consequences for them.

"I am not satisfied that your risk can be managed in the community or that you can be rehabilitated in the community."

Press was jailed for one year. The sentence included a consecutive four months after part of the original suspended sentence was activated.

A dangerous teenage triple rapist twice had sex with a terrified and vulnerable 13-year-old girl as well as another poorly girl of 14 before threatening to kill, chop up and bury a third girl.

One of sex offender Danny Bailey's rape victims "may never fully recover from the effects" of her ordeal and he posed a high risk to children, especially young girls, in the future, a court heard. He was aged just 15 at the time of the first rape and was 18 for the second two rapes and his behaviour had a "significant effect" on all three victims, Hull Crown Court heard.

He taunted the first rape victim and "made her life a misery" by his later "victim blaming" of her. Bailey, now 20, of Newly Close, Hessle, admitted three offences of rape against the two girls and another offence of harassing a third girl. He was locked up for 10-and-a-half years on Thursday after a lengthy investigation by Humberside Police.

Megan Rhys, prosecuting, said that Bailey was 15 at the time and one of the girls was 14 when he raped her in December 2016 even though she was feeling ill. He kissed and cuddled her before having sex with her, even though she had said she did not want to do so.

"She froze as it took place," said Miss Rhys. "At the time of the offence, she did not, in fact, realise that what he had done was rape her. She told her mother what he had done to her. The defendant told people that she was lying. He called her deluded.

The girl later said: "It took time for me to understand what Danny Bailey had done to me. I am not physically afraid of Danny. I would stand my ground. I feel relieved that it is over."

The second girl was aged 13 at the time and Bailey was 18 in September 2019. She was particularly vulnerable and thought that he was a new friend for her. They were in his bedroom chatting when he kept touching her more in a friendly way. "She thought that he was being nice and trying to make her feel better," said Miss Rhys.

A few days later, he asked her if she wanted to meet and they went to his house, where he pulled down her leggings and underwear and had sex with her.

On a second occasion in January 2020, she agreed to go to his house but he kept grabbing her by her wrists, told her that he could kill her if he wanted and put his hands around her throat. Bailey pushed the girl on to the bed and she hoped that he would stop being violent.

He had sex with her. "She told him that he was a rapist," said Miss Rhys. "She didn't tell anybody about what happened at the time." The girl later said: "When I met Danny, I was vulnerable and he made me feel better. The first time that Danny broke my trust, I thought that it was my fault. It is still causing me a great deal of stress. The second time, I felt more violated.

"After the second time, I knew things were getting worse for my mental health. I felt like it was a forever problem. I think what Danny did has had a huge impact on this. My brain now works very differently.

"People are scared to say stuff to me in case I take it badly. All of my emotions are at the extreme end of what they can be. What Danny did has made me lose friendships but my parents have stuck with me."

The harassment of the third girl, aged 17 at the time, happened when Bailey started acting strangely with her and became aggressive and threatening to her after she heard rumours that he had raped two other girls.

He threatened to throw her off a bridge where they had been walking, kill her and chop her up before putting her in his freezer.

He later warned her: "You're my next victim" and again told her that he would kill her, chop her up and put her in his Nan's freezer. On another occasion, he rode his bicycle aggressively at her, pushing it against her leg and riding into her.

The girl telephoned 999 but Bailey continued to follow her and shouted at her before using his shoulder to push her into a bush.

"During this, she felt absolutely terrified," said Miss Rhys. "Her heart was racing and she just wanted to get home." Miss Rhys said the victim later said: "I can't understand why Bailey would do this to me and I just want him to leave me alone."

Richard Thompson, mitigating, said that Bailey pleaded guilty at an early stage and had shown remorse. He had no previous convictions. "He apologises to the victims of these offences for what he has done," said Mr Thompson. "He says that what he did to them was dishonest and also cruel and he wants to understand what it is about him that has resulted in him committing these offences.

"None of the thoughts were acted upon. He did not behave violently to any of his victims or not to the extent those thoughts might suggest. He went looking for help." Bailey accepted that his behaviour during the harassment was unpleasant and he had said of the victims: "I know that they deserve justice and that I deserve punishment."

Judge John Thackray QC said that Bailey raped the first girl at a time when she was "entitled to feel safe and secure" in his presence. "You raped her when she was unwell and you ignored her pleas for you to stop as she cried," said Judge Thackray. "You made her life a misery and embarked on victim blaming."

The victim of the two later rapes was "undoubtedly a vulnerable young girl" with mental health issues and Bailey lied to her about his age.

'Within a very short space of time, a matter of weeks, you raped her again," said Judge Thackray. "She must have been terrified. You told her that you could kill her if you wanted and you put your hands around her throat, you put her phone out of reach and you raped her. You followed that with aggression.

"Your offending affects every aspect of her life. She may never fully recover from the effects of your offending."

Bailey's behaviour towards the third girl was "worrying in the extreme" because he made "appalling threats" to her, telling her that he would kill her, chop her up and bury her.

"Your conduct has had a significant effect upon all of your victims," said Judge Thackray.

Bailey was sent to a young offenders' institution for 10-and-a-half years and he will be on extended licence of seven years after his release after being branded a dangerous offender.

He was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, an indefinite restraining order and will have to register as a sex offender indefinitely.

A young woman has told of the terrifying moment a predatory taxi driver tried to sexually assault her as he gave her a lift home after a night out.

Khairul Ehsan, 43, lunged at the 24-year-old victim and tried to grab and kiss her as she travelled home in his minivan taxi, Hull Live reports. She 'couldn't get out of the car' as he 'got on top of her' in the horrifying incident.

The victim has now bravely spoken out about her ordeal after Ehsan was jailed for three months and placed on the sex offenders' register for seven years.

She described how she first met him when he had picked her up with friends in Hull city centre. She recalls how he was friendly and offered to help her out if she ever needed a taxi in future.

The woman said: "I was complaining to him about the night out as there had been a couple of things that had upset me and he was really nice about it. We got chatting about how it is always a struggle to get a taxi in Hull on a night out and he gave me his number and told me to call him if I ever needed a lift if he was working.

"He messaged me a couple of times asking me how I was. He would say things like 'hey sexy' and 'can't wait to see your sexy face', but I just thought it was harmless banter.

It was on the night on June 22, 2019, when things took a sinister turn, Hull Crown Court heard. The woman said: "I had been on a night out in Propaganda and he picked me up from a takeaway in Paragon Square. Usually I always sit in the back of a taxi, but because I felt like I knew him and had spoken to him before I decided to sit in the front. He was driving a mini-van so there were a few spaces in the front and I sat in the far left.

"I finished eating my takeaway and asked him if he could stop off at a cash machine on the way as I didn't have any money on me, but he wouldn't stop. I realised he was driving the long way around to get to my address. When we finally stopped he then put his arm around me. He then tried to kiss me and the next thing I knew, his face was on mine.

"I couldn't get out of the car as he was over the top of me and in my way. He then started grabbing at my boobs. I kept saying 'no', but he ignored me. I don't know how I did it, but I somehow managed to unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of the taxi. I was absolutely terrified. I was scared he was going to come after me."

The woman confided in her neighbour about the incident and persuaded her to go to the police. She said: "I didn't know if I was going to be taken seriously and that it was just my word against his, but I told my neighbour and she encouraged me to go straight to the police - and I am so glad I did. They have been amazing and really supported me throughout the whole thing."

The incident has had a lasting impact on the young woman. She said: "For about a year, I could not even get in a taxi. I was scared that it would be him driving it. I would always check the texts from taxi companies when I eventually felt up to getting a taxi just to make sure it wasn't his car."

Appearing at court on Monday, Ehsan, of Navigation Way, Hull, was found guilty of attempted sexual assault and jailed for three months. Ehsan had denied the charge. He will now be subject to the requirements of the sex offenders register for seven years.

During the course of their investigations, Humberside Police discovered that this was not the first time Ehsans behaviour had caused concern. Three further alleged incidents of the taxi driver making suggestive remarks and advances towards young female passengers came to light, the court was told. Though Ehsan has not been charged in relation to those.

Jeremy Evans, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Khairul Ehsan deliberately targeted this young woman, late at night when she was alone. His behaviour left her feeling shocked and disgusted and the victim did the right thing in reporting this matter to the police.

"Three incidents of this man behaving in a similar concerning way have also been brought to light as a result of the police investigation. This incident make clear that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated. We will always prosecute cases of this kind if our legal tests have been met.

The woman says she is glad Ehsan is now behind bars. She said: "I am relieved he is now in prison, even if it is for a short time. The main thing is that he is not allowed to have a taxi licence again and he cannot do this to anyone else."

He had a history of other flashing antics A serial flasher grinned at a shocked woman as he brazenly exposed himself to her while she was walking through Hull city centre on her way to work. Michael Lee pulled his trousers down as he sat on the pavement, leaving the woman upset and scared by what he had blatantly done in broad daylight. He had a history of other flashing antics, including more serious incidents involving children, and he had served previous prison sentences, Hull Crown Court heard. Lee, 38, of The Crossings, Great Union Street, Hull, admitted exposure on July 29. Richard Thompson, prosecuting, said that a woman was on her way to work at 8.50am after parking in Hull City Centre and was walking along Freetown Way. She saw Lee sitting on the pavement. "She was wary of him because of the way he was hanging around and his general appearance and demeanour," said Mr Thompson. "As she passed, he asked if she had any spare change." The woman noticed that, while he was speaking to her, he was exposing himself and all his private parts were visible. "It looked as if he had pulled his trousers down and he was holding the waistband of his trousers in order to expose himself," said Mr Thompson. "She was shocked initially and felt scared and anxious. Before she turned away, she noticed that he was looking at her and smiling. She called him a 'dirty b*****d' as she walked away." The incident lasted a few seconds only. She carried on walking throughout the incident so as "not to entertain his behaviour" but, when she got to work, she spoke to a colleague and the police were alerted. The woman had since decided to park closer to work but this would now cost her money because she would have to pay for her own parking if she parked nearer to work. "It was hard to say how it would impact her in the future," said Mr Thompson. The woman had said: "It will definitely affect my confidence walking around on my own, especially in quiet areas." Lee has three previous convictions for exposure and had been jailed by Hull magistrates for six months in 2006. That offence had been committed shortly after he was released from a previous prison sentence. Cathy Kioko-Gilligan, mitigating, said that Lee had a troubled history and a 19-page pre-sentence report on him was not at all positive in suggesting ways of helping him. Judge Mark Bury told Lee: "You clearly have some serious issues that need to be urgently addressed because, unless they are addressed, I can see you committing more of this type of offence." The latest exposure offence was not as serious as some of Lee's other ones because no children were involved this time and he was not committing any sex acts. Lee was jailed for 14 months but, because he had been in custody, he was expected to be released as "time served" shortly. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years.

A lonely motorcycle instructor who was desperate to make friends online was found with more than 3,370 sickening images and videos of child pornography and 280 of bestiality.

Socially isolated paedophile Daniel White exchanged X-rated online messages with a woman who had sent him a picture of her daughter and asked her whether she had done anything sexual to the girl.

He was helping to fuel the "disgusting trade" in the sexual abuse of young children because he was "deriving pleasure" from the vile images, Hull Crown Court heard.

White, 23, of Jenthorpe, Orchard Park estate, Hull, admitted making and distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography between 2015 and 2020.

Charlotte Noddings, prosecuting, said that police received information that White had been using a Twitter account to upload images of children to the internet. A mobile phone was also linked to this.

White had 1,314 images of children in the most serious Category A, 629 of which were videos, and 1,021 images in Category B, with 125 of them movies, as well as 1,036 images in Category C, including 66 videos.

They showed "extremely young girls" aged between six and 14. He also had 280 images of extreme pornography showing bestiality, one of them a movie.

White had been involved in online sexual conversations, including one with a woman who had sent him a picture of her daughter. He had asked her if she had done anything sexual with her.

White claimed to the police that he became aware of the images by accident. "He didn't report them because he didn't want anything to come back to him," said Miss Noddings.

"He denied any sexual attraction to children."

Charlotte Baines, mitigating, said that White originally used social media sites because he had been socially isolated and wanted to make friends. "He is an emotionally lonely man and has never had an intimate relationship with someone," said Miss Baines.

"He had a desire for a relationship and belonging somewhere, attitudes that enabled this type of offence. He was then drawn in to an online world where sexualised chats were commonplace.

"It all took a much more sinister turn in the commission of these offences. He did not extricate himself and actively participated in sexual behaviour."

White, a qualified mechanic, had worked as a motorcycle instructor but could no longer do that because he would be training or instructing people who might be under 18.

Judge Peter Kelson QC told White: "This crime which you have committed is not a victimless crime. Just because we don't have the children in this courtroom giving evidence of what was done to them does not mean that there are no victims. Quite the contrary.

"These images of those children that you were deriving pleasure from are evidence of crimes being committed.

"There were victims and you were furthering this disgusting trade by sharing these videos. Appropriate punishment can only be achieved through immediate custody."

White was jailed for two years and was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. His mobile phone, laptop and tablet computer will be forfeited.

He even tried to talk his way out of being jailed by claiming that he would give half of his future earnings to helping children's charities all over the world A depraved collector of child pornography willingly distributed sickening images to others but later tried to pretend that he had no sexual interest in children at all. Fast-talking and fired-up Maher Al-Shrida tried to brazen it out in court, even though he had been sent dozens of videos of children, and claimed that he had been "unlucky" and it had all been a "mistake". He was in "complete denial" and even tried to talk his way out of being jailed by claiming that he would give half of his future earnings to helping children's charities all over the world, Hull Crown Court heard. Al-Shrida, 54, of Beverley Road, Hull, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children, two of distributing indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornography between January 28 and July 1, 2020. He told the court: "My friends sent them to me. I did receive pornographic materials but I did not know that some of them were of children." Al-Shrida, who is Iraqi, admitted that he received batches of 30, 40, 60, 70 and 80 videos via a WhatsApp group. "A friend of mine told me that he wanted videos of children under age so I searched my gallery and I sent one video to the person who asked for it," he said. "Other videos were sent by mistake. They were part of a big group which I forwarded. I wasn't aware some of the videos were of children. "The reason I had them was that my friends used to send me 70 or 80 videos at a time. I used to send them back without realising that some of these videos were of children. It did happen on one occasion when a friend asked me specifically for a video of children and I searched the videos and I sent him this video. "This was wrong and I am stupid to do such a thing. I regret what I have done and I have already paid the price. My wife has lost her pregnancy. I was unlucky. It's just me being unlucky. Had I not found the video, I would not have reached this point. I don't have any interest in children. Had I had any interest in children, I would have gone to the doctor to get help." In a lively plea to be spared prison, Al-Shrida claimed that he would "dedicate" 50 per cent of his earnings to charities that "supported poor children all over the world to repent for my mistake". Rachel Scott, mitigating, said that Al-Shrida accepted that he provided images for people who had a sexual interest in children. "He is clear that he doesn't have a sexual interest in children," said Miss Scott. "Some of the people who have asked him for pictures to be provided did have a sexual interest in children." Al-Shrida travelled to this country in 2003 and had been a British citizen for 10 years. He was married and had a three-year-old son but had not had recent contact with him because of the court case. Judge John Thackray QC told Al-Shrida: "I have no doubt whatsoever that you do have a sexual interest in children. It may be one that you are too ashamed to admit. The evidence that you gave lacked any credibility whatsoever. Possessing and distributing indecent images of children is a serious offence. "It fuels child sexual abuse and the untold suffering and harm to children, who are abused and photographed and videoed being abused at or from a young age, and it causes adverse lifelong consequences to them. Those who possess and distribute indecent images of children for the gratification of others fuel sexual abuse. "You are in complete denial. Any exercise in rehabilitation in the community would be pointless." Al-Shrida was jailed for 16 months and was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years.

A predator has today been found guilty of raping a stranger in Hull last year.

Tamer Eren (42) of Southcoates Lane, Hull, was today (Monday 21 March) found guilty of the rape of a woman, despite pleading not guilty at the trial at Hull Crown Court.

The court heard how predator Eren approached his victim on Drypool Bridge on Sunday 19 September 2021, before attacking her in a secluded area and raping her.

Detective Constable Lisa Grantham, of our Protecting Vulnerable People unit, said: Firstly, I would like to commend the bravery and courage of Tamer Erens victim in coming forward and talking about their experience.

This was a shocking incident that caused a lot of concern in the wider community, and we are pleased that this dangerous man will now spend a significant amount of time behind bars.

Not only did he commit heinous crime, but he also refused to admit his guilt instead putting his victim through the torment of the trial process.

An abusive and violent wheelchair user caused chaos at a coffee shop when he turned nasty and started shouting and bawling after he demanded free drinks but was refused.

Bad-tempered and aggressive Gerald Kelly "goosed" a woman in a "grossly unpleasant" sexual assault. He told her: "I will f*** you. It's been a while since I had a girl."

His long list of crime since 1980 included more than 170 offences. He simply did not know how to behave, Hull Crown Court heard. Kelly, 62, of Hull, admitted sexual assault and three offences of assault on December 21.

Charlotte Baines, prosecuting, said that security staff at At Stephen's shopping centre, Hull, were alerted at 5.45pm about a disturbance at the busy Caffe Nero coffee shop outside the centre. Kelly, who was in a wheelchair, was being abusive and was shouting and swearing to staff, including saying "Nazi" and "c***".

He had been asking for free drinks and he became abusive when this was refused. Kelly had previously been banned from St Stephen's and the coffee shop and he was asked to go outside to calm down but he shouted to a woman: "Nazi b****. I'm going to kill you."

He refused to leave and was shouting and swearing at two security officers and one of them took hold of his wheelchair to escort him away but he began to lash out with his arms. A female security officer was hit several times and Kelly used his wheelchair to hit them deliberately as they tried to restrain him.

Two male security staff tried to stop Kelly's behaviour but he continued to lash out and be abusive. Kelly told a woman: "I will f*** you. It's been a while since I had a girl." He touched her intimately, put his arm round the back of her and grabbed her.

He also spat at her and a male security officer as well as hitting them in the face. Kelly was aggressive and began to resist but was taken to the ground and a spit guard was put around him. He was taken to Clough Road police station but continued to be aggressive.

Kelly had convictions for 172 previous offences, dating back to 1980, and they included sexual assault, 24 assaults, 40 for public order matters and others breaching an antisocial behaviour order. Cathy Kioko-Gilligan, mitigating, said that Kelly realised that his behaviour would have caused distress to those involved and members of the public.

"He is truly sorry and acknowledges that his behaviour was abhorrent and disgraceful," said Miss Kioko-Gilligan. "He is remorseful and acknowledges that he has problems with alcohol and problems that have been long-standing.

"He came to Hull in 2017 and hoped that he would be able to rid himself of that demon but, sadly, that did not happen. He must address and rid himself of his demon alcohol.

"He is committed to changing his ways. He is hopeful for the future. Judge Mark Bury told Kelly: You were, not for the first time, extremely abusive. You simply do not know how to behave.

This behaviour, in a wheelchair or not, is simply intolerable.

The sexual assault on the woman was "grossly unpleasant and Kelly goosed her in a humiliating fashion". Kelly was jailed for 16 months and will have to register as a sex offender for seven years.

A serial sex offender who was obsessed with chatting online to teenage girls has finally been jailed after brazenly ignoring suspended prison sentences.

Three-times-married Alun Friend had an "addiction to these chat lines" and had an "inherent weakness" in him for the seedy internet encounters. He bought a laptop to use for starting online chats with young girls just a few days after being released from a spell in custody, Hull Crown Court heard.

Friend, 59, of Alfred Street, Hull, admitted two offences of attempting to breach a sexual harm prevention order between May 10 and 12.

Emma Hughes, prosecuting, said that Friend was a registered sex offender and he had been given an eight-month suspended prison sentence at Grimsby Crown Court in 2016 for attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming. He had been given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order that day and had to register indefinitely as a sex offender.

Friend had also been given a six-month suspended prison sentence in July 2020 for breaching the orders. He was also given a two-year suspended prison sentence and a seven-year sexual harm prevention order at Teesside Crown Court in April last year for attempting to meet a child under 16.

Friend was released at the time from a spell in custody but had no family support and bought a laptop within days.

The latest offences came to light when Friend started talking online to two fake teenage girls aged 13, supposedly from Derby and Lincoln, who were really undercover police officers. The conversations became sexual and Friend told the decoy girls that he wanted to meet them.

"He accepted that some of the conversations were sexual and he did know the potential consequences of speaking to these girls," said Miss Hughes. "He said that his need for chats outweighed the risks."

Steven Garth, mitigating, said that Friend had previously been given suspended prison sentences and had never been jailed before but he had breached the latest suspended sentence that had been made only a few weeks before the new offences.

"It's difficult to pinpoint the exact motivation for these offences," said Mr Garth. "It appears there is clearly some sort of inherent weakness in him. His need to chat outweighed the risks he was taking in making these communications."

Reasons included loneliness, sexual frustration, lack of a support network around him and his "desire above everything to chat on these chat lines", the court heard.

Unemployed Friend had been in custody for between seven and eight months. He had been living with his third wife previously but they had separated, with divorce proceedings starting.

He had a 19-year-old daughter from a previous relationship but he did not see her at all, the court heard.

Judge Peter Kelson QC said that Friend had previously been given every chance possible with a suspended prison sentence in 2016 but he now had to be jailed because of the breaches of the orders. The two-year suspended sentence was activated, with a consecutive one year for the new offences, making a total prison sentence of three years.

A depraved and "deviant" sex offender "manipulated" a young girl into having highly intrusive pictures taken of her after he pretended that they were going to be sent to a doctor.

Perverted and scheming Glenn Overton-Wilkinson used a tiny probing camera with a hot light on the end of it that burned the vulnerable young victim's intimate areas.

He told the girl that the images sent to the doctor would be used to help other young girls who had intimate body problems, Hull Crown Court heard.

Overton-Wilkinson, 59, of Waterside Road, Beverley, admitted assault by penetration, causing a girl to allow him to take indecent photographs of her and possessing indecent images of children between May 2016 and November 2019.

Simon Reevell, prosecuting, said that Overton-Wilkinson used a tiny camera to take intimate images of the young girl.

He pretended that taking the pictures was to help other girls with problems in that area of their body and that the images would be sent to a doctor.

The tiny camera had a light on the end that was hot and this burned an area of her private parts.

The matters were discovered when police received information that Overton-Wilkinson had been accessing child pornography.

They found that he had about 3,000 indecent images, including videos, of other children.

Overton-Wilkinson had developed an "obsession" with the girl and made threats to her about what would happen if the offences were reported.

He had a previous conviction from nearly 20 years ago for possessing indecent images of children.

"He acknowledged that he was sexually interested in children," said Mr Reevell.

Judge David Tremberg told Overton-Wilkinson that the community order that he received then was not enough to "curb your sexual interest in children".

He had an "entrenched" and long-standing "deviant sexual interest" in children.

"You could not have failed to realise that, if you committed like offences again, let alone progressed to contact offences, you would get locked up for those for a long time," said Judge Tremberg.

"Yet you proved yourself either unable or unwilling to stop yourself from doing just that."

Overton-Wilkinson "manipulated" the girl, who was "vulnerable by reason of her age, naivety, gullibility and her exposure to you", and the offences were persistent over a prolonged period.

"There really was no respite for this child," said Judge Tremberg.

"You didn't end this because you wanted to. This all ended because you were caught.

"There is a significant possibility that, had matters been permitted to progress without the engagement and involvement of the police, things could have got worse and worse.

"She has suffered significant harm." The girl would grow up and realise the "depravity" to which Overton-Wilkinson subjected her and she felt "shame and humiliation".

It could take "years or decades" for the effects of the "emotional trauma" to play out.

"You well knew what you were doing was seriously wrong," said Judge Tremberg.

"You used grooming and manipulative techniques. You persuaded the child not to tell.

"There was clearly an element of significant planning about this."

David Godfrey, mitigating, said: "He did make admissions in his interview. He has a degree of understanding as to why he commits these types of offences.

"He made some startling admissions to the police. It was deplorable, it was awful. He rightly accepts that.

"He does feel shame and regret at what he has done and he bitterly regrets his behaviour and his disgraceful loss of control. He is sorry."

Overton-Wilkinson was jailed for nine years and will be on extended licence of one year after his release from prison.

He was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

A local historian has been jailed for nine years after he undressed and raped a drunken and sleepy teenage girl after a party.

Shane Jessop took advantage of the teenager after she 'passed out' on a sofa and he led her upstairs to a bedroom, where he took all her clothes off and kissed her before raping her.

The girl had been left very upset and said that the 'horrendous' incident would 'haunt' her forever, Hull Crown Court heard.

Jessop, 49, from Hull, admitted attacking the girl in September 2021.

Michele Stuart-Lofthouse, prosecuting, said the teenage girl was at a party in Hull and Jessop had bought alcoholic drinks for the gathering.

The court heard the victim had been placed on a sofa after becoming sick and had passed out. She woke after 11pm to find Jessop on top of her.

Jessop had carried her victim upstairs and undressed her before the rape.

Jessop stopped after three to five minutes but only when he heard another girl about, the court heard, at which point the victim got dressed.

The court heard how police were alerted and he later told them: 'My life is over, isn't it?'

The girl later said that the incident was 'horrendous' and she had since suffered anxiety, including finding it difficult to breathe as though she was 'under water trying to get back'.

She suffered from flashbacks and often lost focus.

'I haven't been out of the house really since the incident,' she said

in a statement to the court. 'I spend a lot of my time in bed.

'I know this has affected my mum and dad a lot. I suffer a lot with anxiety.

'I just sit and cry until I can't cry any more. I get upset often for no reason.

'My mum worries about me constantly. This will haunt me forever.'

Jessop denied charges of sexual assault against the same victim and another girl on the same day.

He also denied perverting the course of justice between October 1 and 10 by asking another girl to contact the two teenagers to suggest that they withdraw their allegations in exchange for money. Police confirmed Jessop had tried to pay off the victim via a third party before his first appearance in court, but those three charges were not pursued by the prosecution.

Jessop had previously denied all the offences and had been due to face trial in April but he later changed his pleas to guilty for rape and sexual assault.

Nigel Clive, mitigating, said that Jessop wanted to apologise for his actions.

The offences happened at an unhappy time in his life because of personal matters and he turned to drinking. He had been drinking at the time of the rape.

'His baser desires turned to criminality,' said Mr Clive. 'He bitterly apologises. If he could turn back time, he would.'

Jessop realised that the victim and her family would suffer terribly.

'His actions have let everybody down terribly,' said Mr Clive.

'He bought alcohol with no intention of committing offending.

'He found his victim drunk and what happened there was terrible but he did not provide alcohol in order to abuse people.'

Jessop had no previous convictions.

He had gained a degree in local history and had worked in museums and libraries.

'He led ordinarily a very quiet life,' said Mr Clive.

Judge Mark Bury told Jessop: 'The effect of this offending has been severe as far as she is concerned.

'She feels betrayed by your actions. Her levels of anxiety have been raised significantly.

'She now suffers flashbacks, breakdowns and crying fits. The whole family have had to suffer along with her.

'You took advantage of a drunk young lady who was simply incapable of consenting and incapable of protecting herself and you were aware of that position.

'She was, in those circumstances, particularly vulnerable.'

Jessop was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will have to register as a sex offender for life.

Jessop describes himself on his LinkedIn account as a customer advisor based in Hull since November 2016.

Before that, he was a museum heritage assistant between September 2011 and November 2016.

He says: 'A proud family person, I consider myself as an articulate, educated and confident individual whose greatest strengths include historical research, writing, communication, inclusive participation, problem solving and social engagement.

'I pride myself on the ability to not only develop new skills but to harness and adapt my current abilities towards any vocational setting.'

Jessop studied for a Bachelor of Arts degree in local and regional history at the University of Hull between 2008 and 2014.

He also studied at Hull College, has been a senior steward with Unison and was previously a volunteer tour guide on the Arctic Corsair, Hull's last remaining sidewinder trawler.

A depraved sexual predator who regularly behaved like a violent bully targeted five teenage girls and a woman during a shocking and nasty series of incidents, including making vile threats to kill. Fletcher Massey raped one girl and degraded her by forcing her to cook and clean for him. He sent a menacing knife emoji to another girl and threatened to stab her in the face, Hull Crown Court heard. Massey, 21, formerly of Newland Grove, Hull, admitted nine offences, including rape, four of sexual activity with a child, two of assault causing actual bodily harm and another of intimidating a witness between June and September 2020. He also admitted causing a girl to engage in sexual activity by forcing her to watch a video of him committing a sex act. Ian Howard, prosecuting, said that Massey had consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl he met over Facebook during lockdown when she sneaked out of her home to see him. He also had sex with another 14-year-old girl he met through Facebook after she went to his home. In other incidents, he forced a 15-year-old girl to cook and clean for him and had sex with her at least six times a day. He threatened her with violence and had sex with her on one occasion while holding a pillow over her face. Massey also threatened to throw acid in her face. He assaulted a pregnant 16-year-old girl by grabbing her by the throat and squeezing her neck until she was dizzy. In another assault, Massey lost his temper with a 20-year-old woman he was in a relationship with and headbutted her in the face. He intimidated another girl who was a witness by threatening to kill her during a voicemail. He sent four emoji messages, including a knife image, and made 12 telephone calls in one day. Massey also threatened in another call to knock her out and threatened in another message to stab her in the face. Massey, who now prefers to be called Kai Massey, had convictions for attempted robbery, assault and possessing a knife. Stephen Robinson, mitigating, said that Massey had suffered a wretched childhood and had been put in care. "He has had trouble relating to how he deals with others," said Mr Robinson. Massey's behaviour was impulsive, emotionally immature and "grossly lacking in social and life skills" but there was some hope for him for the future, the court was told. "He does feel more positive for the future," said Mr Robinson. Recorder Anthony Hawks told Massey: "You have committed extremely serious offences. At least, late in the day, you have had the decency and maturity to plead guilty." Massey was jailed for 12 years and three months. He was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for life. After the hearing, Detective Sergeant Stu Fox said: It became clear to us from listening to the accounts of these girls that Fletcher Massey is an extremely callous, dangerous and perverted man who enjoys inflicting harm on young women for his own pleasure. I cannot imagine the trauma that these girls have had to experience at the hands of this cowardly man, but they should be so proud of their strength in coming forward about the abuse they had suffered and remaining dignified throughout this entire investigation. They have remained consistently engaged with us, entrusted us with distressing information and been strong throughout, even when they were going through personal traumas unconnected to the case. Massey had tried to intimidate these girls into withdrawing their accounts, but the girls bravely stood against him, reported his actions and we were able to keep him remanded into custody, where he couldnt cause them, or anyone else, further harm. I also want to thank the witnesses who have come forward and continued to offer support to the investigation, ultimately helping us to get justice for the victims. There is nowhere other than behind bars that this man deserves to be. Im pleased he is now off the streets and hope this brings his victims some closure, although I understand this will not undo the damage and pain he has inflicted upon them." An NSPCC spokesperson also commented on Massey's sentencing. They said: Masseys last-minute admission of this horrific campaign of abuse against four young girls may have spared them the distress of reliving their experiences in court but can never undo the devastation his repulsive actions caused.

A perverted ex-soldier was found with sickening sexual images of vulnerable girls aged as young as four and six.

Matthew Harrison had distributed sexual images to others over the internet and the offending took place over a five-year period.

He had found life difficult after returning to civilian life when he left the Army and turned to drink and drugs, Hull Crown Court heard.

Harrison, 32, of Station Road, Howden, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children, three of distributing indecent images and one of possessing an image of extreme pornography.

The court heard that police searched Harrison's house on January 9 and his phone was seized.

It was examined and 64 accessible files were found, including eight images and three videos in the most serious Category A.

There were ten images and nine videos in Category B and 28 images and two videos in Category C.

The dates of the images spanned from 2016 to this year.

Recorder Richard Thyne told Harrison: "The most serious Category A images included girls aged four to six years old being forced to have sex with an adult male.

"You didn't only search for and access those images, you shared those images with others online.

"Evidence was found of the distribution of three Category A images, including two videos."

Harrison initially denied the matters but later made admissions.

"Some of the children were very young and aged as young as four to six," said Recorder Thyne.

"There was offending over a long period of time. There were a large number of different children involved.

"It's simply too serious to suspend the sentence. The offence of distribution is too serious and only an immediate sentence of imprisonment can be justified."

Harrison had convictions for criminal damage in 2009 and driving with drugs in his system this year.

Charlotte Baines, mitigating, said the images were on only one device and Harrison had shown genuine shame and remorse and an insight into the fact that they were not victimless crimes.

The children shown in the images were young and vulnerable.

Harrison's drink and drug problem began five or six years ago when he left the Army.

"Having served Queen and country, it left him with a lot of uncertainty in his life," said Miss Baines.

"He lost the structure in his life. He found it very difficult to acclimatise to civilian life."

He had suffered problems in his marriage and had decided to stay away from his child so that he did not bring any issues into its life.

Harrison was jailed for two years and was given a ten-year sexual harm prevention order. He must register as a sex offender for ten years.
