Not reported.
Actor Daniel Frogson has been given a suspended prison sentence for viewing hundreds of indecent images of children.
The 21-year-old, who appeared in fantasy series His Dark Materials, viewed the images over a three-year period, starting when he was 17.
Some of the images were category A, the most severe category of abuse.
Frogson, from Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to four charges at Nottingham Crown Court.
These were:
The offences were all committed between 1 December 2019 and 13 January 2023.
Frogson, who was nominated for a Children's Bafta for his starring role in CBBC series Joe All Alone in 2018, was given an eight-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years, ordered to attend a sex offender rehabilitation programme, and 15 other rehabilitation sessions.
Nottinghamshire Live, which attended the sentencing hearing, reported that Frogson was living in Nuthall in Nottinghamshire when an IP address there was suspected of downloading child abuse images in early 2023.
Police then seized two devices and found the images when they were examined.
Frogson's most recent address was given to the court as Malthouse Close in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.
His other acting work includes a role in 2023's The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, which also starred Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton.

Predatory sex offender who raped two women after tricking them to gain their confidence.
Predatory sex offender who raped two women after tricking them to gain their confidence.
Alfreton Road, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG7
A predatory sex offender who raped two women after tricking them to gain their confidence has been jailed.
Ansaf Saeedy was described by a judge as an âopportunistâ who preyed upon the two victims and did not care if they consented to his advances or not.
The 21-year-old then refused to admit his offending or show any remorse â forcing his victims to go through the further ordeal of a crown court trial.
Saeedy, of Alfreton Road, Nottingham, was jailed for nine years after being convicted of two counts of rape at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (16 February).
The first victim was targeted by Saeedy in the early hours of 26 May 2021 when he approached her in Nottingham city centre.
Saeedy, who was riding a scooter, started talking to the woman and invited her to party.
He bought the victim alcohol from a shop before they went to a flat. There were no other people inside the property but Saeedy plied the woman with more alcohol.
He raped her after suggesting that she lied down on his bed.
Saeedy claimed repeatedly that he had not had sex with his victim, and continued to lie about what happened even when damning forensic evidence proved he was not telling the truth.
On 27 August 2022, the second victim had agreed to meet with Saeedy and go for some food.
He tricked his way into her flat before raping her.
Detectives carried out a meticulous investigation into both incidents while supporting the victims and their families.

String of sexual offences against two young girls.
Not reported.
A man has been jailed for a string of sexual offences against two young girls.
Nottinghamshire Police said Anthony Evans assaulted his primary school-age victims multiple times, in the Worksop area, before he was arrested in February last year.
Evans told the girls to keep his crimes secret but was caught after one of them told her mother about his abuse.
He was jailed for 12 years at Nottingham Crown Court on 19 January.
The 63-year-old, from the Worksop area, initially denied the offences but later pleaded guilty to nine sexual assaults by penetration between January 2019 and February 2023.
He also admitted two charges of causing his victims to watch images of sexual activity, three charges of causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, and two offences of assaulting a girl by touching.
'Catalogue of abuse'
Evans' 12-year custodial sentence will be extended by two years on licence when he is released.
He has also been placed on the sex offenders' register for life and made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order to restrict his access to children when he is released.
Det Con Emily Bucklow, of Nottinghamshire Police, praised the victims' bravery and determination.
She said: "Evans is a predatory sex offender who was responsible for an appalling catalogue of abuse against two young children he appeared to believe he could manipulate and control.
"As this very strong sentence demonstrates, he couldn't have been more wrong."
Former housemaster jailed over sexual abuse of young boys.
Previously Ireland
A former Scout leader and housemaster at a childrenâs home in Nottingham has been jailed for 26 years after a jury found him guilty of historic sexual abuse.
Steven McNally, now aged 67, abused five children between 1974 and 1979 when he worked at Nazareth House Childrenâs Home in Lenton, and as a Scout leader for the Bishopâs Own Troop, also in Nottingham.
A trial at Nottingham Crown Court heard he sexually abused five boys who were aged between 5 and 15 at the time.
McNally was extradited from his home in Ireland to face trial and jurors found him guilty on 24 of the 29 counts listed in the indictment.
He was found guilty of:
At his sentencing today (19 January), he was sentenced to 26 years in prison plus a one-year extended licence period. He was told he will serve a minimum 17 years before he can apply to the Parole Board to be released on licence.Â
The trial heard that the majority of the offences took place while McNally worked as a housemaster at Nazareth House, which was run by the Sisters of Nazareth Catholic order.
Four of the five victims resided at the childrenâs home, whilst a fifth victim was sexually abused by McNally after joining a scout group also run by the serial abuser. Nottinghamshire Police launched an investigation which led to a number of victims being identified.
The crimes went undetected until 2016, when the first victim came forward after watching a child sexual abuse storyline unfold on the ITV soap Emmerdale.
Police were told the victim joined a Scout Troop and was abused by McNally on camping trips from the age of 11, including in Crich and Tollerton. The court heard McNally was aged 18 at the time and carried out the abuse after entering the victimâs tent on repeated occasions.
The second victim told officers he had been having a rough time in the care home and had been beaten by the nuns. He said McNally was aware of the beatings and told the child that he would look after him and visit him in the night to make sure he was OK.
Instead, McNally repeatedly sexually abused the child, telling him not to tell anyone about what happened because if he did, bad things would happen.
The victim was aged around nine at the time and the abuse happened on the grounds of the childrenâs home as well as in McNallyâs car.
Two further victims told police they were sexually abused from the ages of around five or six, with one telling officers McNally saw the boys at the home as his âplay thingsâ and that he would beat children as well as sexually abuse them.
The fifth victim told police McNally âstole his childhoodâ and that he abused him at Nazareth House as well as at a Nottingham address that was home to McNallyâs parents.

Nigel Feckey travelled from his home in Nottinghamshire to Gwent, Wales, after making arrangements to meet the teenager.
He was arrested at Caerphilly railway station by officers from Gwent Police after they were tipped off by members of an online activist group.
Nottinghamshire Police launched an investigation after information was passed to detectives.
It was discovered during a detailed investigation that Feckey had also sent explicit messages to the person he believed was aged 14, as well as attempting to groom another individual he believed was 13.
Sixty-three-year-old Feckey, of Fredrick Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child after grooming and two counts of attempting to incite a child into sexual activity.

Sex offender who raped a young girl on multiple occasions.
Oakenhall Avenue, Hucknall, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG15
A sex offender who raped a young girl on multiple occasions has been put behind bars for 15 years.
Nicholas Smith preyed upon the girl and raped her up to six times over a five-month period â warning her not to tell anyone or they would both go to prison.
Detectives began an investigation when the girl revealed what had happened to friends, and teachers at her school became aware.
As well as raping and sexually assaulting the girl, Smith also forced her to watch sexual acts and send him indecent images of herself between January and June 2022.
The 44-year-old, of Oakenhall Avenue, Hucknall, was jailed for a total of 15 years at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (8 December).
He will serve a further five years on licence after his release from prison. Smith is also now subject to a restraining order which bans him from contacting the girl for life and has been placed on the Sex Offendersâ Register for life.
Smith had earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of raping a girl under the age of 13, sexual assault of a child, causing a child to look at sexual activity and two counts of making an indecent image of a child.
Sex offender who groomed a teenage girl.
HMP Nottingham
A cowardly sex offender who groomed a teenage girl has been put behind bars for 10 years.
Thirty-two-year-old Thomas Todd befriended the victim and bought her presents before sexually assaulting her in 2017.
The victim courageously spoke to police officers in May 2018 after telling her mother Todd had abused her.
Todd refused to admit his offending to police and subjected the victim to a trial and lengthy court proceedings.
He then failed to attend court for the final days of the trial and was tracked down by police in Scotland following a manhunt.
Todd, of HMP Nottingham, was found guilty of sexual assault and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court.
He was jailed for a total of 10 years when he appeared for sentencing on Friday (1 December).
Toddâs offending began in the summer of 2017 when he started sending the victim messages asking her where she was and who she was with.
She later told detectives he treated her like âhis girlfriendâ even though he was aware of her age.
He bought her gifts and sexually assaulted her when they were left alone.

Dangerous sex offender jailed after attempting to meet âchildâ.
Sophie Road, Forest Fields, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG7
A dangerous sex offender has been jailed after sending explicit messages and arranging to meet a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
Naveed Sultan arranged to meet the âgirlâ â actually an adult posing as a teenager â at Sutton Lawn park in Sutton-in-Ashfield after sending her a number of sexually explicit messages.
Sultan turned up at the location but the woman he had been speaking to never approached him and just watched from a distance.
Nottinghamshire Police launched an investigation after the information was passed to officers via the company which employed 38-year-old Sultan.
Detectives were also made aware of sexually explicit voice messages, videos and screen shots which Sultan had sent the âgirlâ.
After a detailed investigation, officers discovered Sultan had also been communicating sexually with two other teenage girls and had attempted to work out where they lived.
He sent messages to one of the girls, aged 13, threatening to rape her and also sent messages encouraging her to meet him.
Detectives were able to charge Sultan with a number of offences and he eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child and one of attempting to meet a child following grooming.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (16 November), he was given a total custodial sentence of eight years, which will include five years in jail and a further three years on licence.
He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order that will limit his online activities once he is released from jail.
Sultan, of Sophie Road, Nottingham, was also added to the sex offendersâ register for life.
Predator sexually abusing two children.
HMP Nottingham
A predatory sex offender has been jailed for 21 years after sexually abusing two children.
Jay Wood, aged 33, targeted the girls at an address in Nottingham and was exposed when one of his victims told her teacher about what had happened.
After briefly going on the run, Wood was arrested and made a full and frank admission to officers in his police interview.
He later pleaded guilty to one count of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (31 October), Wood, of HMP Nottingham, was jailed for a total of 21 years.
Detective Constable Alan Braisby, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
âThis was an appalling catalogue of offending that was finally brought to an end by the bravery and determination of Woodâs victims.
âTheir testimony in this investigation was compelling and I am full of admiration for them both.
âWood is a predatory offender who caused huge emotional damage to his victims for his own sexual gratification. I am pleased he has now been jailed and that he can no longer pose a risk to children.
âOffences of this nature can have a lifelong impact on victims who we know can be reluctant to come forward.
âSometimes they feel they wonât be believed, and sometimes they just donât want to talk about what happened to them.
âI would, then, like to reassure all victims of sexual assault that we will thoroughly investigate all allegations that are made to us and follow the evidence where it takes us.â
Stalker secretly filmed women in their homes.
Victoria Road, Netherfield, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG4
A persistent stalker who opened a bathroom window and put his hands through while a woman was in the shower and also entered her home while she was on holiday has been locked up.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how the victim screamed in terror, closed the window, and called the police after seeing Stanislaw Filipiakâs hands coming through her window.
It was subsequently discovered the 39-year-old had previously been inside her home, at least twice, while she was away, had rifled through her underwear drawer and taken images of her expired passport, Facebook account log-in details, and other sensitive password information which was held on an iPad.
Filipiak, who was working as a fast food delivery driver, committed these offences in The Park area of Nottingham between 3 January and 5 February this year.
The court heard he Googled the victimâs name more than 45 times having developed a fixation with her.
Following a thorough investigation, detectives arrested Filipiak and seized two mobile phones from him.
When officers analysed his electronic devices, it was discovered that he had secretly filmed videos of young women, and photographed them in intimate situations, while they were in their bathrooms and bedrooms.
Pictures and recordings were taken through windows and gaps in their blinds, including while victims were in various stages of undress. Seven victims of voyeurism were identified.
Filipiak, formerly of Victoria Road, Netherfield, was first arrested on 24 February 2023 after he was identified on doorbell camera footage loitering outside addresses, looking through windows and trying front door handles.
He was also found to have a thick rubber cosh in his backpack and was further arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon.
Further police inquiries revealed Filipiak carried out concerning and disturbing internet searches, including about 24-hour key cutting in Nottingham, the reach of city centre CCTV cameras, and other searches which showed his interest in offences of a sexual nature as well as pornographic-related material.
Filipiak was further arrested in relation to the evidence found on his electronic devices and subsequently charged.
Other material and items were found when officers searched his home, including rope and a blindfold, which the judge said were âa very real concernâ in context with the case.
He pleaded guilty to one count of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, seven counts of voyeurism, two counts of stalking, and possession of an offensive weapon.
Filipiak was given an extended nine-year sentence when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (27 October 2023). This includes a six-year prison sentence and a three-year extended licence period.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offendersâ Register indefinitely and made subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and restraining order.
Sentencing Filipiak, Judge Michael Auty KC said he had âgrave concernsâ as to why he had been carrying the cosh, against the background of his persistent offending over several months, and that the internet searches he had carried out were âdeeply disturbing.â
Judge Auty said: âImagine the terror of the young woman in the shower, seeing your hands coming through her window.
âYour behaviour represents a deep intrusion into these womenâs personal lives. The fear you have engendered in them is almost impossible to state.â
The judge also publicly thanked the Nottinghamshire Police detectives for their âvery effective, diligent, and remarkably skilledâ investigation, adding they âshould be very proud of their work in the case.â
Detective Inspector Chris Berryman said: âThe investigation team showed great perseverance and determination to identify all of the victims in this case.
"This was not an easy task and involved good investigation work from looking at distinctive windows, car parks, rubbish bins found on Filipiakâs mobile phone recordings and linking them back to the victimâs addresses.Â
âThis enabled us to get justice for all of the victims and demonstrate how dangerous this sexual predator was and the risk he presented in the future. The sentence reflects his conduct and the good investigative work prevented an escalation in offending.â
Filipiak was brought to justice as a result of a successful partnership approach between the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) prosecutor and police investigating the case.
Sarah Sanderson, from the CPS, said: "Filipiakâs offending was extremely concerning and it is fortunate that he has been stopped.
"He had preyed on young women in their private moments when they had every right to feel safe in their homes, using the cover of his job delivering fast food to avoid suspicion.
âAs well as the clear evidence of voyeurism, there was evidence of a more serious, sinister intent behind his actions. This evidence suggested his offending could have become increasingly more harmful, so it is fortunate that he has been caught and dealt with before that could happen.â
Detective Constable Ben Grayson, of Nottinghamshire Police, added: âThese were appalling, invasive offences and I am pleased the judge saw fit to hand Filipiak a substantial sentence.
âNo-one should have their privacy invaded in the way Filipiak did and I would like to personally thank the victims for their help in building the case against him.
âI hope this outcome serves not only as a comfort to them and wider public, but also as a stark warning to others who might be tempted to engage in voyeurism.
âStalking is an offence we treat extremely seriously, and which can have a lasting impact on victims. It takes many forms, but it is always a very serious offence, and we urge victims to seek help from the police at the earliest opportunity. We understand that people can be reluctant to contact us â but we are always here to help.â

He was also made subject of a restraining order and must sign the Sex Offendersâ Register for life.
Christopher Leask 41
Notorious predator jailed for grooming vulnerable 14-year-old girl.
Notorious predator jailed for grooming vulnerable 14-year-old girl.
Raleigh Street, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG7
A notorious sexual predator targeted a vulnerable 14-year-old Derby girl for sexual activity after going on the run just days after being released from prison. Derby Crown Court heard how Christopher Leask encouraged the teenager to escape from home after sexually abusing her behind a charity shop in the city.
The 38-year-old paedophileâs sentencing hearing was told how he stored the victim as "Babygirl" in his mobile phone, took her to a McDonald's and was finally found with her outside Asda in Sinfin.
Now the former Alvaston pervert has been put behind bars for years. Handing him an 11-and-a-half-year sentence, Recorder Michelle Heeley KC said: âShe was vulnerable and that you called her âBabygirlâ demonstrates your attitude. You are a sexual predator and you present a risk of serious harm to more people. There is clear evidence you targeted and groomed this young girl.â
Jonathan Dunne, prosecuting, said Leask was released from a 16-week jail sentence for breaching the terms of being on the sex offender register in July 2022 and should have gone straight to a bail hostel but did not and did not tell his supervisors. He said by the end of that month he was in the Normanton area of Derby and had met the victim.
The prosecutor said: âShe is 14 years old but is vulnerable and presents as younger than that. Her parents became concerned that she was meeting a new friend. Her father saw her with the defendant in the street and told her mother.
âOn July 30, her mother saw her in the street with the defendant and told him that (her daughter) was 14 and that he shouldnât be with her and called him a paedophile. By this time she had bruising on her neck consistent with a love bite and her parents were concerned about how she had come by it.
âShe told them that he had given her it and that she had given him one back. They forbade her from seeing him. It was clear however that the defendant maintained contact â particularly by social media. The police recovered conversations between them and (the girl) was stored in his phone as âBabygirlâ.â
Mr Dunne said in the early hours of August she escaped from her house via a window. The defendant was there and it was something that they had planned. He said her parents realised that she had gone at around 4am and contacted the police who conducted a search to try to find her.
The prosecutor said: âThey found CCTV from a local McDonald's that showed the two of them together and that they were very close and kissing. As a result of a sighting just before 4pm, they located the defendant and the teenager near Asda at Sinfin.
âThe defendant was originally seen on his own and made an attempt to escape from the police before being captured after resisting and (the girl) was found at the rear of the store. She was wearing the defendantâs coat.â
Mr Dunne said Leask was taken to St Maryâs Wharf police station and placed in a cell where he tried to get rid of his underwear by flushing it down the toilet. He said although it was recovered, it was not possible to get any DNA results from it but it was possible to get DNA results from the girlâs underwear which made it clear sexual activity had taken place between them.
The prosecutor said the girl was interviewed and told officers sexual activity had taken place between them behind a charity shop. Leask, now of Raleigh Street, Radford, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and failing to comply with notification requirements.
He has a number of previous convictions going back to 1997 including similar offences which saw him handed a six-year sentence with an extended five-year licence in 2011.
Roger Wilson, mitigating, said his client accepts that he is seen as dangerous in the eyes of the law. He said: âThe most powerful mitigation is his early guilty pleas. He had a difficult upbringing, he was (sexually) abused himself.â
Leaskâs sentence is made up of a seven-and-a-half-year custodial sentence plus a four-year extended licence. It means he will not be eligible to apply for parole until two thirds of the way through the custodial element - five years.
Jonathan Withey 45
Former Scout leader sexually assaulted a boy and a girl after meeting them at a Scout camp.
Former Scout leader sexually assaulted a boy and a girl after meeting them at a Scout camp.
Tindall Close, Beeston, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG9
A former Scout leader was jailed for non-recent sexual offences against children.
Jonathan Withey, 42, sexually assaulted a boy and a girl after meeting them at a Scout camp in 1997.
The following year, Withey began sexually abusing the two children, who were in their early teens at the time.
The girl was subjected to sexual abuse over a four-year period and the boy suffered for three years.
Withey, who was 16 when he met the children, was found guilty of two counts of rape, three indecent assaults, six counts of indecency with a child and two counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.
On September 1, Withey, of Tindall Close Chilwell, was jailed for a total of 16 years with a further one year to serve on licence and placed on the Sex Offenderâs Register for life.
Police investigator Kerry Humphreys, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: âWithey abused his position of trust as a Scout leader to prey upon these children over a long period of time.
âHe must have thought after all these years he had got away with his offending. However, he underestimated the bravery of his victims and the determination of officers to bring him to justice.
âWithey continued to deny his offending and subjected his victims to a court trial. Throughout the proceedings, he has not expressed any remorse about the ordeal they have gone through.
âHe is a devious and predatory sex offender whose offending has unsurprisingly had a very significant impact on these two victims.
âAs Withey prepares to spend a lengthy period behind bars, Iâd like to personally thank them for their bravery in coming forward.
âWithey would have remained a danger to any children he came into contact with if they had not spoken out about what happened."
Detective sergeant Adam Taylor added: âNothing is more important to the force than the safety and wellbeing of children.
âI would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this man to justice and hope this case serves to encourage other victims to come forward.â
