A paedophile who asked a 13-year-old girl to call him “daddy” has been jailed for more than four years.

Mickey Boots, 28, of London Road, Yaxley, began speaking to the victim from Lancashire on 18 March 2023 when he added her on Snapchat.

They also spoke on Whatsapp, with Boots claiming he was 17 and the girl repeatedly telling him she was 13.

Boots encouraged her to touch herself and asked to see inappropriate images of her.

He also sent her some inappropriate photos in return and asked her to save his number in her phone as “daddy”.

Boots called her while touching himself and the conversations ended on 21 March 2023.

The victim reported Boots to Lancashire Police and Cambridgeshire officers attended his home to arrest him and seize devices.

In interview, Boots became agitated and accused officers of “antagonising” him when phone recordings of him speaking to the victim were played. 

On Monday (23 June), at Peterborough Crown Court, Boots was jailed for four-and-a-half years, having pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communications with a child and cause/incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Registered sex offender has been jailed after twice breaching a strict court order.

Michael Jordan, 33, handed his Samsung mobile phone to police officers during a meeting with them and Probation on 21 March in Peterborough.

An officer discovered the photo gallery on the device only displayed images since 1 March but Whatsapp messages, including pictures and videos, predated these.

There were also sexual photos and videos in chats which were showing up as deleted and put Jordan in breach of his sexual harm prevention order (SHPO). 

The order, imposed following a conviction in March 2020 for breaching a previous SHPO, forbade him from using any device capable of connecting to the internet, unless he didn’t delete any internet history.

It also prohibited use of any device capable of storing digital images unless no content was deleted.

Further examination of the phone found he had deleted Whatsapp conversations and pictures along with TikTok messages.

On Wednesday (4 June), at Huntingdon Law Courts, Jordan, of Langley, Bretton, Peterborough, was jailed for 30 months for breaching a suspended sentence and two breaches of a SHPO, which he admitted.

PC Emily Heriot said: “Michael Jordan showed a complete disregard for his SHPO, despite knowing its conditions.

“I’m delighted he’s faced justice, and it shows how committed we are to managing sexual offenders and ensuring they comply with court orders.”

A man deemed to be a danger to teenage girls has been handed a strict court order that restricts his behaviour for five years.

The sexual risk order (SRO) was placed on Amadu Tavares, 23, of Watergall, Bretton, Peterborough at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, April 24).

An SRO is a civil order which can be sought by the police against someone who has not been convicted or cautioned of any offence but is thought to pose a risk of harm.

The conditions state Tavares must not:

• Contact or attempt to contact any girl under the age of 18, directly or indirectly, except as is an unavoidable part of daily life, or unless supervised by an adult with knowledge of the SRO
• Be present in any premises at which any girl under the age of 18 resides for more than 12 hours within any 24-hour period, save with family members previously notified to police and the supervision of an adult with knowledge of the order
• Follow or loiter near any girl under the age of 18 in a public place
• Be in any road vehicle (not including buses) with a girl under the age of 18

Tavares is also further required to make any device capable of accessing the internet in his possession available for examination on request by police. This includes giving relevant PINs and passwords.

He must also:

• Stop immediately for a police officer when requested whether in a vehicle, any other mode of transport or on foot
• Disclose all social media handles, accounts and ‘apps’ to police

PC Adriana Leaver Hernandez, from the force’s Child Exploitation Hub, said: “Tavares has shown he is a high-risk sexual predator who targets and exploits girls, with a significant number of reports made against him.

“He takes advantage of the fact he is older and uses alcohol and drugs to entice his victims – all young teenage girls - and then exploits them.

“Tavares targets vulnerable teenagers who often go missing and are at high risk of child sexual exploitation (CSE) and has shown he is sexually attracted to them.

“This order is necessary to prevent further sexual harm to children and protect women and girls.

“Sexual risk orders do not place the burden on the victim to provide an evidential account and create a safer place for victims, especially children, to speak to police.

“We would strongly encourage anyone with any concerns that a child may be being exploited to report this to us and the local authority.”

Description

A “depraved” sexual predator who raped a woman and secretly filmed others in his Peterborough home has been jailed.

Craig France, 33, targeted young women at nightclubs and plied them with alcohol before taking them to his property where he had set up hidden cameras.

France recorded himself carrying out sexual acts on some of his victims while they were unconscious or sleeping.

He was arrested in September last year and initially denied the crimes, but pleaded guilty to rape, sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and exposure at a hearing last month.

During the investigation, police identified four victims, but it’s believed there could be more.

France’s offending came to light in August last year after a woman reported he had raped her two years previous, and she was now aware he had filmed it.

The victim had been given a shot of “Sambuca” by France while they were in his garden and the next thing she knew, she woke up in his bed with no recollection of what had happened, but knew something untoward had taken place.

Officers trawled through more than 6,000 disturbing images and videos of several unidentified women, who were secretly filmed at his home between March 2022 and September 2023.

They also found the video which showed the victim being raped by France, while she appeared to be “lifeless”.

It showed France carrying the victim, who was unable to stand, before dropping her in a hot tub and then dragging her on a concrete floor.

A further three victims were identified from the videos and images, who were distraught to learn they had unknowingly been filmed, with one saying she felt France had “taken her dignity” and another saying she felt “disgusted”.

On one occasion, France can be seen sexually assaulting a victim as she lay asleep on his sofa and, on another, he filmed an unsuspecting woman’s body in a sexual manner, close-up.

Officers also found a clip where France was seen naked in daylight at a roadside in the Broxbourne area of Hertfordshire. 

Today (Monday, 31 March), at Cambridge Crown Court, France, of Hammonds Drive, Fengate, Peterborough, was sentenced to 10 years and seven months years in prison. He was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Martin Fawcett, 55, of Cluttons Close, Crowland, was recently sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child under 13 years’ old.

The result brought a lengthy eight-month investigation to a close and gave his victim some sense of closure – even if the road ahead is long.

Like all cases of this type, it required a huge effort involving teams from across Lincolnshire Police.

Response officers, detectives, crime scene investigators, forensic scientists, digital forensics experts and child communication experts all played their part.

So did the Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) Team.

Working alongside the Crown Prosecution Service, everyone worked to build a case that had the best chance of success.

It began when a brave family made the decision to put their faith in the police force to protect their child and to get justice for what had happened to them.

Officers worked with the family in those initial hours to gather vital evidence and to ensure that the suspect was arrested as soon as possible.

This was so that he could be processed for evidence and interviewed.

Once work had begun, the case was referred to the Protecting Vulnerable People department, a specialist investigation unit specialising in sexual offences against children (among others).

An Officer in the Case was assigned to coordinate the investigation.

Detectives worked with response officers and crime scene investigators to gather evidence from the crime scene.

These were what police call ‘Golden Hour Enquiries’– evidence gathering in the earliest stages of the investigation when evidence is in abundance and most vulnerable to loss or degradation.

This included a full search of the offence location, seizure of electronic devices, and gathering forensic evidence.

Vitally, during these early stages, the full extent of risk to the victim, family, suspect, and the public was established, and strategies were put into play to manage these risks.

Detectives worked with the family, the victim’s school, and MOSOVO to ensure that risk was effectively managed.

This continued throughout, as well as during the build up to court and sentencing, including support from our Neighbourhood Policing Team who monitored potential tensions arising from the case and spoke with the local people about their concerns.

Longer term investigative action then began, including reviewing and downloading digital devices (with the support of our Police Online Investigation Team and our Digital Forensics Unit), analysing forensics.

A further interview with the suspect was undertaken as new evidence came to light, as well as gathering statements from disclosure witnesses.

During this stage, detectives also worked with a Registered Intermediary (a child communication expert) to complete a video recorded interview with the young victim.

This was to ensure that when their evidence was presented in court, it would be the best evidence.

Finally, once all evidence had been gathered and analysed, the Officer in Case was responsible for pulling this together ready to go to the Crown Prosecution Service for a charging decision.

The case officer worked with the Officer in the Case to review unused material and third-party material, ensuring that there was full disclosure to ensure a fair trial for the suspect.

Detective Brennan said, “It was an honour to lead this investigation and to work alongside dedicated colleagues who consistently demonstrate a victim-centred, suspect-focused approach to investigation.

“As a team, we are so grateful that the victim’s family put their trust in us to get them the justice they deserved.

“We hope that this positive outcome will encourage other victims to come forward.”

A paedophile who made more than 1,700 indecent images of children has been jailed for 10 years.

Robert Norman, 41, was arrested by officers at his home in Drybread Road, Whittlesey, in January last year after police received information he had downloaded indecent images of children.

The officers seized two Samsung mobile phones and a hard drive, which were found to contain 1,716 indecent images.

The phones contained evidence Norman had been speaking sexually to whom he thought was a ten-year-old girl and passing her details to other potential sex offenders.

Norman had also breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order - handed to him in 2015 following a conviction for indecent images of children - numerous times.

He had not informed officers about one of the Samsung mobile phones capable of accessing the internet, which was hidden under a pillowcase, and handed the other phone over. 

Norman also used the internet to speak with the girl and deleted the web history from all devices which was also a further breach of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

In addition, he failed to inform officers of new online usernames - a breach of his Sex Offender Register Notification Requirements.

On Friday (January 31), at Cambridge Crown Court, Norman was jailed, having pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, one count each of breaching notification requirements and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

DC Claire Cummings said: “Noman is a very dangerous prolific offender; he is a complete danger to children as well as the wider community and he has complete disregard for the law by continuously breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

“I am pleased with the sentence which Norman received, this sends out a clear message that we will look to protect children and the vulnerable from harm.”

A registered sex offender who began sexual chats with what he thought was a 14-year-old boy has been jailed. Aaron Batchelor, 29, sent messages to the boy who was actually an undercover police officer.

Batchelor, of Wootton Avenue, Fletton, Peterborough, sent messages on Snapchat and WhatsApp between June 5 and July 3 of this year. He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (December 20).

He admitted attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child and three counts of breaching, and two attempted breaches, of a sexual harm prevention order.

A convicted sex offender has been jailed after he attempted to engage in sexual conversations with children online despite being under a strict court order. Terry Turner, 39, entered an online chatroom twice in August using a private browser, so his web history could not be recorded or tracked.

He initiated sexual conversations with three victims, who all identified themselves as being under the age of 16. Despite knowing the age of his victims, Turner continued initiating sexual conversations, according to Cambridgeshire police.

This put him in breach of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), which stated he must not use any internet browser which does not retain search history or enter a chatroom without notifying his police offender manager three days beforehand. Turner was first placed on the Sex Offenders Register in 2011 after being convicted of child sex offences. He was also convicted of further offences in 2020, and then again in 2022 for breaching his SHPO.

On Friday (November 8), at Cambridge Crown Court, Turner, of Church Close, Stilton, near Peterborough, was jailed for two years after he pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching his SHPO and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

A convicted paedophile who was found with more than 8,000 indecent photos and videos of children on his phone, including videos of babies being raped, has been jailed.

Peter Barber, 71, from Norburn in Bretton, Peterborough, was handed a 13-year sentence at Peterborough Crown Court on Tuesday (September 17).

Barber had already been convicted of indecent exposure, as well as making, distributing and possessing indecent images of children. Police officers attended his home after receiving information that an indecent image of a child had been uploaded to the internet.

They found a phone with what was described by Judge Grey while sentencing on Tuesday as an “extensive library of indecent images of children”. This included over 3,700 ‘category A’ images and videos, the worst category; nearly 1,900 files in category B and just under 2,700 in category C.

The footage had been categorised under names including “10yo and fat man” and “rape”. Barber also admitted to buying and accessing indecent images online on another phone, which he had thrown away.

Judge Grey described the most serious individual offence as arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child under 13. He continued: “You communicated with a woman online who told you she had a 12-year-old daughter.

"You asked the woman to take indecent images and videos of her daughter. She sent you the material you had asked for.”

Barber also informed police that he had been having sexual conversations with three 12-year-old children via Telegram, and receiving indecent images and videos from all of them. He sent indecent images of children and of himself back to the 12-year-olds.

The paedophile also suggested to one of them that he might meet her in person, in what the judge described as “ghastly examples of an adult setting out to corrupt young children online for his own sexual gratification”.

Judge Grey summed up Barber’s character: “You make claims of a profound Christian faith, which normally works to prevent you from offending. But you say that, when a switch goes in your mind for some reason, lust takes over and you are, in effect, unable to control yourself.

“That is simplistic, self-serving nonsense. It might suffice as an excuse for a short-lived or isolated lapse, but what the court is dealing with here is many months during which your overwhelming focus was to obtain sexual gratification by watching young children being raped and otherwise abused in the most degrading and despicable ways.

“Your relationship with Jesus is, in my judgement, nothing but a show for others when you try to persuade them you will not offend again. You are, in my judgement, an irredeemable paedophilic sexual offender.”

Barber admitted three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child; two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child; three counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child; and one count each of: possessing extreme pornographic images, possessing a prohibited image of a child and arranging the sexual exploitation of a child under 13.

His sentence also included a further six counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with Sex Offenders Register notification requirements. The sentence comprises a nine-year custodial period and four years on licence.

PC Emily Heriot, from the specialist management of sexual or violent offenders unit (MOSOVO), said: “Barber went to great efforts to conceal his continued sexual offending, with complete disregard for his sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements, which are in place to safeguard the public. These new convictions reflect the serious risk he poses to children.”

A former Cambridge University medical student on the verge of completing his studies has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to child sex offences. Lorcan Elliott demanded that boys as young as 13 send him indecent images while he was still a student.

Judge Philip Grey described Elliott's offending as "utterly selfish, manipulative, and exploitative" at a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday (September 4). He said Elliott played the role of a 'sugar daddy' during communications with victims.

Prosecutor Samantha Marsh said that Elliott had offered between £200 and £800 for some images and sent screenshots of his bank account to prove he had the money. There was no evidence that any payments had been made.

Summing up, Judge Grey described how Elliott used social media to find boys under the age of 15 who identified as gay or bisexual between January 2022 and May 2023, before speaking with them online and asking for explicit images. "All of the chats are highly sexualised; you are often very demanding and insistent that they provide you with what you want," he said.

"It was young boys that you wanted to find, that you wanted to induce into performing sexually on camera for your pleasure. The sexual pleasure and excitement that you derived from these chats is clear from the text of the chats themselves."

Elliott knew that his victims were children – at least one told him that they were 13 years old. He sent explicit pictures and videos of himself to some victims, as well as instructing them on the types of images and videos he wanted them to send him.

In all, Elliott possessed a total of at least 600 indecent images of children, 142 of which were category A – the most serious. "What you did is the sort of foul online behaviour that causes parents the world over to fear what their children are being exposed to online," the judge said during sentencing.

The 25-year-old from Orton Southgate, Peterborough, put his head in his hands and cried at times during the hearing. He was described by Judge Grey as 'academically gifted' and two of his professors had submitted letters in his support to the court.

The judge told Elliott, who was on the verge of qualifying as a doctor at the time of his arrest, that he could never be considered fit to practice. Elliott was arrested at his student accommodation in May 2023 after the IP address relating to his Snapchat account was traced to his parents' home.

Henry Oghoetuoma, defending, said his client was of previous good character and "fully understands the offences and that it is not a victimless crime". He said Elliott had lost his medical career, as well as friendships with peers.

Mr Oghoetuoma said: "When the police came knocking, he immediately owned up to it. He realises that what he did was wrong."

Elliott pleaded guilty to 22 charges at Peterborough Crown Court on August 2 this year. These included engaging in sexual communication with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, making or distributing indecent images of children, and distributing indecent photographs.

PC Alex Cochrane said: "The offences were committed over a sustained period with numerous victims here and abroad and it is clear Elliott knew they were children because some were wearing their school uniform. Although there was no physical contact between the defendant and the victims, this case highlights the potential dangers of online activity with unknown people.

"As a force we work tirelessly to detect and prosecute these types of crimes while protecting the vulnerable children involved."

He has been added to the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life and handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order without a time limit. He will be barred from working with children and other vulnerable groups.

A man who threatened to kill a member of the public and exposed his genitals has been jailed for two years and three months and put on the Sex Offender Register for seven years.

Angelo Fichele, 44, of Welland Road in Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, was reported to be topless brandishing what was thought to be a knife and frightening people, said police.

He also damaged four cars, indecently exposed himself to members of the public and threatened to kill a woman who was nearby.

He admitted making threats to kill, indecent exposure, five counts of criminal damage and assault causing grievous bodily harm in Cambridge Crown Court on 2 August.

'Erratic behaviour'

Police said officers received calls about Fichele's "erratic behaviour" on 19 January. He was then arrested and taken into custody, where police said he engaged in a dirty protest.

He was charged and remanded to appear in court the following day where he was granted bail.

On 17 March Fichele was arrested again after he attacked a man in Peveril Road, Dogsthorpe, with what was believed to be a " sharpened spoon", which caused slash wounds to the man’s face.

Det Con Jenny Hargreaves said: “These were really frightening incidents for members of the public who witnessed Fichele’s erratic behaviour.

“I would like to thank those who provided statements in support of our investigation, as a result of this evidence we have been able to put Fichele before the courts and he will now be spending time in prison.”

A rapist who sent a text message to his victim after the crime to say he was sorry has been jailed for ten years.

Jordan Doughty, 33, texted, sorry about that mate, shortly after raping the woman at his then home in Woolpack Lane, Whittlesey, during the early hours of 26 January, 2020.

Doughty had taken the victim there after they left a bar in Peterborough at about 1.30am.

Shortly after arriving, the victim fell asleep on a sofa, but awoke to find Doughty lying next to her, forcefully groping her.

She immediately pushed his hand away and told him to stop, however, Doughty ignored her and continued to sexually assault her.

The victim, who was frozen with fear, was then raped by Doughty and when the ordeal stopped, he got off from the sofa and said, come on, sort yourself out.

The distraught victim collected her belongings and ran to her car, which had been parked nearby.

While sat inside, she called a friend to say what had happened, but as she was so upset, she couldnt talk for long.

The victim drove home and at about 5am, she received the apology text from Doughty.

She contacted a friend who immediately came to her aid and the police were called.

The victim told officers it was not the first time Doughty had raped her, with another offence three years previous. Officers arrested him at his home a few hours later.

Following a trial last year, Doughty, of Farm Road, Boston, was found guilty of two counts of rape and assault by penetration.

On Thursday (21 March), at Cambridge Crown Court, Doughty was sentenced to ten years in prison.

A registered sex offender who breached a court order by communicating with a girl and deleting his internet history has been jailed.

Alan Stokes, 42, was visited by officers at his home in Willonholt, Ravensthorpe, Peterborough, on 6 September last year and during the routine visit, they checked his mobile phone after he told them he had been speaking to a female on Whatsapp.

The phone was seized and the female discovered to be a child.

Stokes had sent messages to the girl, who had confirmed she was a child, between June and August last year.

He also tried to communicate with her through a webcam.

When Stokes was arrested on 30 October, he had hidden a mobile phone under a pillow and another under his mattress.

Both phones were seized and it was found he had deleted 2324 items from one phone’s internet history. 

Communicating with a girl under 18 and deleting internet history put Stokes in breach of two conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which was imposed at Peterborough Crown Court in March 2015 for previous breaches of orders.

Yesterday (17 January), at the same court, Stokes was jailed for 22 months, having pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and two breaches of his SHPO.

DC Claire Cummings, from the force’s management of sexual offenders team, said: “Stokes is a danger to children and we will always enforce SHPOs and make sure sex offenders are abiding by their conditions. 

“This sentence sends out a clear message that we will look to protect children and the vulnerable from harm.”

A previously registered sex offender who was caught performing a sexual act on himself in the presence of children in Peterborough city centre has been jailed.

Gary Smith, 50, who was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years in December 2013 after being convicted of indecent exposure, is subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from certain public areas.

Police were called at 2.15pm on 14 May by a member of the public in Peterborough Cathedral’s green area, reporting seeing a man watching children while performing a sexual act on himself.

A description of the man was given to officers who identified him as potentially being Smith, and immediately deployed to the area.

Smith had begun walking towards the St Johns Street area but returned to the cathedral grounds a short while later, prompting a further call to police reporting the man’s movements.

Officers found Smith hiding behind a gravestone, lying on the ground, and arrested him for indecent exposure and breaching a CBO.

In 2019, Smith was jailed for a year after being convicted of outraging public decency and was made subject of a ten-year CBO which states he must:

• Not go within 200 metres of a swimming pool or leisure centre
• Not go within 100 metres of any school or college
• Not attend areas of public parks or gardens

Smith, of no fixed address, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court today (Thursday) where he was sentenced to 19 months in prison after previously admitting outraging public decency and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.

A 50-year-old sex offender has been jailed 30 years after he abused two girls.

Glen Johnson, of Waltham Close in Peterborough, abused the girls in the 1990s. He also ill-treated four children during the same timeframe, court heard.

He was arrested in 2020 and, in police interview, admitted the abuse but claimed he didn't know why he had done it.

Det Sgt Rebecca Welberry, described the abuse as "traumatic" for the victims.

Johnson admitted four counts of child cruelty and three counts of indecent assault on a child and was jailed for four years and two months at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday.

He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, given restraining orders against his victims indefinitely and also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for life.
