Description
McPhillips, of Bury Road, Gosport, was sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to arranging or facilitating the sexual assault of a child.
He had sent indecent images of himself to an undercover police officer and arranged to meet who he believed was a child for sex.
He was arrested upon arrival at a KFC in Southampton. During arrest, he reportedly said, “I am not going home tonight, am I?”
His defence, Adam Furze, cited McPhillips’ PTSD linked to his military service in the Gulf War and personal trauma, including the sudden death of a friend and a failed marriage.
Judge Christopher Parker KC noted the graphic nature of McPhillips’ intentions and imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order along with notification requirements.
