A man has been jailed for more than eight years after a jury found him guilty of attempted rape and three sex assaults.

Daniel Scott will remain on the sex offender's register for the rest of his life. The 40-year-old had denied the charges but was found guilty by a jury at Teesside Crown Court.

On Monday, July 28, Scott, of Cranwell Grove, Thornaby, appeared at the court for sentencing. He was sentenced to a total of eight and a half years behind bars and a restraining order was made indefinitely.

Detective Sergeant Bonnie Dowson, who investigated said:

“The bravery of the victim in coming forward and giving evidence, will no doubt safeguard others from Scott.

“Sexual assaults like this will always be thoroughly investigated and those responsible should expect to be put before the courts. Please come forward and speak to police if you have ever been a victim of a sexual offence, where we can help victims to access support services and bring those responsible to justice.”
