An ‘abhorrent’ man who took advantage of a families trust in him and sexually abused two children has been sentenced to three years and three months behind bars, handed an indefinite restraining order and sexual harm prevention order, and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for life following his appearance at Hull Crown Court today (Tuesday,19 August).

Stacie John Farrar, 47-years-old of Oakland View in Scunthorpe was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 following a five-day trial concluding on Friday, 13 June at Grimsby Crown Court.

An investigation was launched after officers received reports that a child had disclosed Farrar had sexually abused them over a number of years. During initial lines of enquiry, another brave victim came forward to report similar offences they had been subjected to at the hands of Farrar.

Farrar was arrested and when interviewed, he denied all allegations put to him, insisting he was unsure why they would say that about him.

He was subsequently charged with five counts of sexual assault of a female child under 13, assault by penetration, and rape of a girl under 13.
