A 65-year-old pedophile, Cliff Lewthwaite, has been jailed for an additional 10 years after sexually abusing a girl from age eight in Bromley during his late teens and early 20s.
He was already serving an 18-year sentence from 2019 for abusing two other children and was "looking forward" to his anticipated release in September 2027, after serving half his term.
But on October 21 at Woolwich Crown Court, a jury convicted him of 13 sexual assaults and attempted rape of a child.
The court heard Lewthwaite appeared respectable, working as a butcher, milkman, and pub manager.
Judge Philip Shorrock described his actions as a “campaign of serious sexual abuse” on the girl.
Lewthwaite, held in HMP Belmarsh, now lives a "lonely existence," segregated from other prisoners due to his crimes and without visitors for seven years.
The new sentence begins after his current term.
