Description

The brave testimony of a woman, who was raped, assaulted and imprisoned by a Doncaster man, has seen her abuser jailed for 14 years.

In June 2019, Graeme Easton slapped and headbutted his victim, threatened her with a metal bar and a knife, and spat at the victim before refusing to let her leave his home unless she had sex with him.

After raping her, Easton still refused to let her leave, and poured a drink over her as she fled from him.

Courageously, the victim came forward and reported the ordeal to officers and an investigation was launched by the Doncaster Protecting Vulnerable People Team (PVP). Easton was arrested later that month and in police interview denied assaulting the victim or raping her.

The 60-year-old was charged with false imprisonment, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, sexual assault, and two counts of rape. He continued to protest his innocence, pleading not guilty to all counts - meaning the victim had to endure a trial.

Following a compelling testimony from his victim at the trial, Easton was found guilty of false imprisonment, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) and two counts of rape at Sheffield Crown Court on 15 August 2025. He was found not guilty of sexual assault.

On Friday 21 November, at the same court, Easton, of St Mary’s Road, Doncaster, was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Della O'Horo, of the Doncaster Protecting Vulnerable People Team, said:

"The courage and determination of the victim in this case must be commended. The strength it took to report this abhorrent abuse should not be underestimated.

"This result is vitally important in showing other survivors of sexual assault that when they come forward, they will be listened to and treated with respect through every step of the prosecution process."
