A man has been jailed for eight years for a serious sexual assault in Glasgow.
Mohand Mageed, 26, attacked a woman in Glasgow city centre on the evening of Sunday, 9 February, 2025.
He was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 18 March, 2026, after previously being found guilty on Monday, 16 February, 2026.
Mageed has also been given a lifetime non-harassment order in respect of the victim.
Detective Inspector Shirley Coyle said:
“This was a shocking attack on a young woman in a busy city centre. Mageed is a dangerous individual who now faces the consequences of his actions.
“We welcome this sentencing and I would like to thank the woman for her courage in reporting this crime to us and throughout our investigation.
“We remain committed to tackling sexual crimes and bringing those responsible to justice. I’d encourage anyone who has been a victim of such crimes to come forward and report it to us.
“We’ll thoroughly investigate and have specially trained officers and partner agencies to support you throughout.”
