Description
A man has been jailed for multiple counts of rape following South Wales Police-led investigations.
Najat Ismail, age 53, of Grangetown, was sentenced to 20 years in jail, with an extension of five years due to the seriousness off his offences, at Cardiff Crown Court on August 4.
His sentenced followed two separate trials, where Ismail was found guilty of:
- Three counts of rape (verdict delivered on April 20, 2026)
- Nine counts of rape (verdict delivered May 7, 2026)
Ismail has also been made the subject of a restraining order towards both victims.
DCI Geraint Higgins said:
“Ismail is a dangerous predator, and I would like to thank the victims in these cases for their immense courage and strength in reporting Ismail’s actions to us and enabling us to get to this verdict today. I hope they find some comfort in the jail sentence given to him.”
